Overall good professor. Took him for 145 & 114, both classes were good but 145 was the most interesting. Attend lecture and study and you will get a good grade. Tests are not easy but not hard either - definitely fair. One of the easier to crash comm courses at UCSB.

I love Prof Mullin too! The people who don't do well are the ones who don't go to lecture or don't listen. His material is actually very interesting and his tests (although not necessarily easy) are fair. The fact that it's only 2 tests is actually a nice break from papers, quizzes, sections, etc!

I love professor Mullin! He has interesting lectures and you don't really have to do the reading (just scan it). He expects you to understand the material on the tests so you have to study but if you go to lecture and know the notes you will be fine. He is my favorite comm professor at ucsb. You HAVE to go to lecture tho.

I'm a 4.0 student and was shocked to get a B- in this class. Lectures are disorganized and tough to outline, and his tests are crazy hard. Midterm was 50%, final 50% and he doesn't give a review or offer any guidance as to what is on them. The only reason I got the grade I did was because of the curve and the class average being a D. Avoid him.

Mullin is awesome! Clear, enjoyable, & interesting lectures. Fair exams. Don't know why there are negative ratings. Took notes on his powerpoint slides, did the readings, & studied the same way I usually did: Got an A. Multiple choice midterm (45% of grade) & final (55% of grade). (Note: I'm not a straight A student, so it's very possible!)

Mullin is rad. If you received a bad grade, it's on you. This is university after all. If you don't want to attend class, or read, or study... then take another professor (or drop out of school, you are just wasting your parent's money). If you want to be challenged, and entertained, then take Mullin.

Worse Comm. professor at UCSB. I have never failed a class before this one. His powerpoints are useless because he tests purely on what he says in class. Don't bother taking him.

I don't know why students fear Mullin - I love him. For Comm 132, the reading is very light and usually interesting. His slides can be a bit hard to take notes on, b/c they are very conversational. His exams are multiple choice and not tricky. His lecture style is casual and engaging and he was very helpful in office hours.

I would recommend this class for Comm majors. His lectures are interesting and he is enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable about the topics. His subtle sense of humor is refreshing. You definitely have to go to lecture! Multiple choice midterm and final, but if you go to every lecture and study, you'll be fine!

My 2nd class with Mullin. I don't understand why people don't like him. He's always in a good mood and his quirky personality always made me laugh. His tests aren't easy but as long as you GO TO LECTURE and really study your notes you'll do fine. He is really helpful and genuinely wants people to do well. Bonus: Not a flaming liberal!

If you cant stand the liberal crap every professor spews take Mullin. He is very intelligent and interesting. You do have to actual study so you understand the concepts, not just regurgitate facts like most classes. Study and try (what you should be doing in college anyways) and you will do well.

I am an A student and I first the first time got a C in this class. His tests are hard and impossible to study for because you have so many notes and this long reader. He is probably one of the worst teachers I have had.

Comm and Law was a very interesting course. Power point slides are very colorful and hard to follow. His points get off on track. His tests are so considerably hard to grasp. Luckily there was no paper because of budget cuts. If i were you I would read the textbook and notes equally to fully understand all the cases discussed in class. POINT IS STU

Entertaining, made a class about FCC regulations interesting. His tests are VERY difficult. The midterm wasn't too bad, but the final killed. Only conservative professor I have ever had, which is a nice change! He is really willing to help students. Take his class, just be prepared to study a LOT and ALWAYS go to lecture.

I don?t get why people have such a bad opinion of mullin. I understand his tests can be a little tricky, but if you really study you will be fine. He really tests your ability to apply modern research theories to different applications. As far as questions he is always willing to clarify, he understands that he is a goofball and can be scattered.

One of my favorite professors ever. The only non-liberal professor I have yet to encounter at university. Enthusiastic, help, smart, clear, and he doesn't regurgitate the same garbage that other professors do. If the class is too hard you're just not trying hard enough, sorry.

WORST TEACHER EVER!! Dont make the mistake taking him. His lectures suck and are boring. He grades are biased towards his liking to you. One regret in my life...TAKING MULLIN FOR COMM. RUN FOR THE HILLS, EVEN IF THERE IS A FIRE IN THEM.

Honestly if you just attend class and take good notes you will do fine. Only 2 MC tests, no papers or assignments. His teaching is clear and easy to outline.

I love Professor Mullin. His lectures are highly detailed and informative. He really knows his stuff. And in his own way, he's even kind of funny. If you don't attend the lectures or study, you probably won't do well. Great guy, I'm taking COMM 113 with him as well.

Yes... He has hard tests, but you also go to UCSB. You should not let your fears forbid you from having a truly great man teach you about the law. Charles is a great professor. All of you who received bad grades in his class, please stop your badgering. If you need help with your studies, he WILL be more than willing to help.
