Professor Gaulin is a wonderful man. He's very passionate about what he teaches. The class, however, was tough. The lectures are uploaded in advance, so in-class lectures are virtually pointless. There are quizzes attached to the lectures, so make sure to try on those. The grading scheme helps you get a good grade. I struggled , but ended with a B.

Gaulin is very passionate about what he teaches. This class takes a lot of work in order to fully grasp the material. It was a very interesting class there is a textbook by Gaulin that has everything he talks about. Always go to his office hours it's beneficial.

Truely a gem of a professor. He clearly knows his stuff and is super passionate about what he's teaching which is really refreshing. I wish I could take him again. Do not neglect easy points (extra credit, homework, and quizzes) because those points will add up quickly.

The professor is a sweetheart, but the online lectures lack preparation. The material is pretty intense, and it was hard to learn while hearing "um" after every sentence. If you can get past his lack of public speaking skills, you should be able to pass with flying colors.

Lectures are all online which is convenient. In-class lectures are very boring, but you only need to go if you want your final and midterm to be worth less. He is very nice and knowledgeable on what he teaches.

Professor Gaulin is really good about breaking down bioanth to make it understandable. Make sure that you go to office hours, and he is great at taking the time to explain difficult concepts with you. Its an awesome and interesting class.

This class is hard and requires a lot of work to be put in. Go to office hours!!! Try to stay up to date with the lectures and you will be fine. I got an F on the midterm but an A on the final because I went to office hours and studied the book/lectures. Overall ended with an -A in the class, its possible.

In the Spring 2018 lecture, our midterm average was around a 52% and he does not curve. His tests are worded so weirdly and he makes it so uncecessariky difficult for his students. You must read the whole textbook in order to get a full understanding of the course, and I recommend going to office hours a lot, its also extra credit.

Such a kind human, he really cares about his students. The class is surprisingly difficult- the tests sneak up on you- study hard, and if you go to class, you should be okay. If you don't go to class you're making your life a lot harder than it has to be!!

He makes everything clear and interesting. He will give handout about what you need to learn about the course at the beginning of the quarter His lectures are amazing, both online videos and inclass lectures.

Prof. Gaulin is great at teaching and offers extra credit just by showing up to office hours. However, his tests are really difficult even with a full sheet of notes. Class average for midterm was a 65% and no curve. Would not take again. Ended up with a 69.8% in the class and he would not round up to 70% for a C-.

Gaulin cares about his students and really wants them to learn. Posts all the lectures online and uses class time to review the lectures and answer questions. Loves when students come to office hours. Used textbook to study for midterm and final (super helpful) but was not necessary as long as you watched lectures online. Lots of chances for EC

Gaulin is very passionate about the subject, which makes online videos and in-class lectures interesting. There are quizzes online for each video, which are tricky. Midterm and final questions can be misinterpreted, and really test your knowledge on concepts. With extra credit and iClicker scheme an A is possible, but you must put in effort.

If you like challenging, non-memorizing information kind of questions, then I am sure you will do fine. Lots of lectures online and attached with quizzes, extra credit is offered, and homework on the weekly basis. Is it an easy A? Unless you like complicated answers to oversimplified questions and vice versa, then take his class.

Gaulin is great at clearly getting his point across and is a fan of explaining things in multiple ways until you get it. If you need help, he's very accessible and if those times don't work for you, he will always answer emails. Go to his office hours, it is extra credit. He also let's you use a page (front and back) of notes on tests.

Not sure if it was it was mostly due to him being the professor, but this class was super interesting. Gave me a unique new perspective of the world we live in. You'll have to watch his video lectures and do weekly homework assignments, but getting an A in this class is very doable - there are lots of resources for you to study.

okay so gaulin is okay there is a lot of work that goes into it. You have to watch the lectures before the class and do an after lecture quiz. You get to use a sheet of notes front and back. and he offers extra credit.

Gaulin is great. Clear lectures and will clarify any questions if asked . The tests are kind of tough but as long as you ask questions, do the problem sets, and read the book- which is written by him and SUPER helpful, you can easily get an A. 2 grading schemes (u can choose if u want your icklicker points to count or not)

I definitely recommend this class. If you do the reading, watch the lectures, and do the problem sets youll do fine. AND he offers extra credit. The lectures are posted online but I recommend you go to class still to get iclicker points. His office hours are super helpful too.

The class isn't bad the readings are pretty short, especially compared to other teachers. Each chapter is like 10 pages and the book is small. Do the modules, readings, and you should be fine.

In order to pass class: READ THE TEXTBOOK, WATCH ONLINE MODULES. Even with that, the tests are EXTREMELY difficult to pass because he words the questions (SUPER TRICKY) according to his opinions. It is super confusing even if you have a strong background in bio. IT IS NOT WORTH TO TAKE AS A GE, the online modules are over 1 hour long...
