Lectures were clear. The material wasn't hard to grasp. Taught Mathematica along the way. Pretty good overall.
Had Ebrahim for the first quarter of fully online learning, and he did a great job transitioning to online. Lectures were always posted on time on Youtube (yay 1.5 speed). The videos were detailed and easy to understand. I like his sense of humor, wish I could've met him in person. He's super accessible via Nectir and will laugh-react to your memes
This quarter was different than he normally teaches, there were no midterms or final. One project broken into parts replaced that. Lectures were easy to follow along and homework was manageable as long as you took good notes and read the assigned reading. Extremely accessible and pretty much any hour of the day. I would definitely recommend him.
Best lecturer at UCSB. Used to take his 117 class as well. He explained concepts and theorems clearly in his class and is willing to help in office hours and on campus wire. He offers several grading options and takes the highest one. Will curve slightly as well. Will definitely take his lectures in the future.
Dr. Ebrahim is by far the best professor I ever had at UCSB. He is super clear with his concepts and is very open to students who need help or have an issue with grading. In terms of the classwork, daily quizzes were doable. We also had presentations and homework that were hard because they were conceptual but just ask him for help.
Disorganized lectures but Prof E was super accessible on Campus Wire if anybody had questions. Lots of extremely difficult homework that involves a lot of physics. Midterm and final were extremely easy versions of the homework. Definitely wants his students to succeed and offers grading schemes to help you. Solid professor!
He was very good at explaining topics and gave a very fair grading scheme. He's very accessible outside of class on is always keeping us up to date on class forums. He very clearly cares about the subject he's teaching and making sure his students understand.
He's very clear with his explanations and you can tell he's very passionate about teaching and the subject itself. Lectures were non mandatory but most of us showed up anyway because they were super helpful. He's always available outside of class and responds to messages quickly. Tests were fair but you do have to put in a lot of work to do well.
One of the most hard-working and skilled lecturers in mathematics at UCSB. Would take 100 more times.
Gives good lectures, genuinely cares about the subject, always responds to messages.
Hands down the best professor I've had since coming to UCSB. He explains everything to detail, I rarely had any questions about lecture. He uses the platform CampusWire to communicate with his students and it's very helpful, he answers all your questions in less than 24 hours. As long as you do and understand the homework, tests will be easy!
Professor Ebrahim is by far the best math professor I've had at UCSB. He is caring towards his students' learning, and is very accessible outside of class using a website called campuswire which I loved. He does not make the material more complicated than it has to be, and delivers info very clearly. He builds tests off the HW, so they werent hard.
He answers questions during lectures, and is very accessible outside class via Campuswire. His grading is very reasonable, such as midterm and homework set drop policy. If I hadn't got a D- in midterm2, I would have received an A for 4B.
I love professor ebrahim! He is one of the best lecturers I have come across in my math classes. Very clear, organized, and is very willing to help you during lecture and outside of lectures as well. Homework is hard but CampusWire lets you ask for help to him. Really recommend him. He wants you to succeed. grading scale is made to help you!
he's good as long as you supplement yourself with the textbook. I was struggling in 4B but started doing assigned reading before lecture and it helped a lot. he teaches a very application heavy curriculum so sometimes it feels like a physics class, so it's hard but he's a great guy and wants you to succeed. super accessible/helpful via campuswire
Dr. Ebrahim is a great professor! He really helps students grasp concepts during office hours, which is helpful as his notation can get very confusing, especially with the lack of online resources. Homework is insanely hard, but the midterm and final were noticeably easier, and he gives practice problems that are quite similar to those tests.
Ebrahim seems like a nice guy, but I did not enjoy the class at all. The way he teaches is extremely notation heavy. TONS of homework- I'm talking hundreds of very difficult problems, some of which take hours to figure out. On top of this, exams are nothing like the homework. Avoid at all costs
So grateful to Professor E! I have never learned math the way Professor E teaches it. He discusses the important theories behind the many Vector Calc. concepts which allows one to apply them in any field. While there is alot of information to learn and understand quickly, if you work your butt off you'll aquire a great foundation for any field.
new professor, poor communication better in math34a, worse in math34b (no practice tests, unclear) tas and section are pretty bad, go to clas for sure iclicker scores are based both on attendance and correctness, but they are put on a curve there are options on how you want your tests to be weighed on your grade, he picks the best option
Math 117 in general is just really hard. Ebrahim is probably one of the best professors ive had. His lectures are engaging and hell adjust the grading scale if he sees if youre putting in effort. The reason for my poor grade is because I had a heavy course load and didnt put in the time. Make sure to read the book and go to office hours
Ebrahim is a great guy and is willing to help as much as he can. His lectures are great in showing you on the correct way to think when you're attempting to write proofs. His abundance of office hours and enthusiasm for the subject make him a great professor for this class. This class is difficult but Ebrahim knows that and will adjust.
He overcomplicates the material, goes really fast and then gets frustrated when the students are confused and ask questions. Homework due 3 times a week was time consuming and annoying to have to remember to do it every other day. Hes nice about grading by dropping your lower midterm grade though! Definitely sign up for CLAS or go to drop in hours
I'd say he's better than Cooper, but opinions vary. His explanations are very clear and he is very nice, so don't hate. He has several grading options and allows cheat cards. You can easily put a little time into the class and still pass with a good grade.
This was his first year teaching. He grades iclicker questions on correctness. His lectures aren't clear to me. I can tell he really understands the subject, but falls short in communication. He goes too fast. He seems nice, but is dismissive of students and gets annoyed when we don't understand. Take someone else unless you excel at math
