Good lecturer. Tells you what you need to do. Tests and homework are straightforward. If you practice, you pass. Wash your hands.
Pan is a great professor, he makes the class clear and easy to understand, has very thorough lecture notes, and provides practice problems. Super organized and nice prof!
His lectures are great and he explains everything well
He is ok at teaching but his grading sucks. Even though I got an A+ from his course, I still feel that his grading sucks!!!
He intentionally skipped a lot of materials that should be covered in 4B. In addition, he subtracts points from exams if you write the wrong section time! Even if you have contacted your TA to unofficially switch sections, he would still say that you are unlawfully attending other sections!
Professor Pan is okay at teaching, he lectures with plenty of examples which is nice but doesn't really provide much physical intuition. Mainly just gives definitions, shows proofs, and then examples. Gives practice tests which are basically easier versions of the test. Had a generous curve, which was definitely necessary. Not awful, not fantastic.
dont need to go to section ever!!! dont need to go class if u understand his lectures, but make sure u understand every part of his lectures because its very similar to his exams. biggest curve of all time, category: weight/myscore hw: 20%/100% midterm: 30%/70% final: 50%/55% overall grade B+
Hopefully his curve is juicy because I just got out of his midterm and I feel like crying.
Pan is very good at structuring his notes and lectures. It was very easy to follow along with and go back to concepts that he had covered. I took both his Math 4B and 6A classes, and went on to 6B . I felt that I had a better preparation and foundation for the concepts in 6B than other students in the class and I wished that my 6B
I don't think Pan was very good at explaining concepts. I'm not sure how good he would be at teaching something like 4A or 6A but 4B wasn't too concept heavy so it was okay. Exams are almost exactly the same as the practice exams that he goes over in class. Study it and you're set.
Professor Pan's lectures were very clear and easy to follow and he would explicitly say what was relevant for us to know for the tests. All his practice tests gave a great outline for the actual test and if you came to lecture and did the practice tests, you're at least guaranteed a B. His rubrics for grading were super fair as well.
Professor Pans explanations and lectures were super clear and were really easy to follow. The study guides were an accurate representation of the exams, and he actually goes over the study guides with the class (super good review and immensely helpful). He also replies to questions through emails in a very fast and helpful manner.
Practice tests prepare you well enough for the actual tests if you know how to approach them. CLAS helps a bit too if you dont pay too much attention to the lecture. Also good that youll get another practice test. Great lecturer, he prepares you well enough in understanding the fundamentals of differential equations. Would take again.
lecture notes are clear and posted online. I didn't attend lecture often because it was 8am, but still finished with an A. The most important thing to do is his practice problems. If you understand how to do them, you can get an A.
A good professor and attendance is not mandatory. However, tests are only midterm and final, and these are harder than the practice problem. Lectures are heavy and you need time to learn it after class. But!!! Curve is soooo gooooood.
I love him!!!!!! When I saw my midterm score, I almost cried. However, I did not give up and worked hard. He gave the second chance club and beautiful curve. wo ai zhe ge nan ren
hw 20%, midterm 30%, final 50%. midterm is almost exactly like practice exam. final is fair. Everything on the test was on the lecture notes so highly recommend go over your notes before tests. Professor Pan always posts his notes online which is good but also discourages students to go to lecture... nice professor.
Pan seems to be relatively new to teaching, but I would say that overall he is doing a decent job. Homework is limited to 10 tries each and is usually enough to get through. Practice exams are very similar to the actual ones.
Professor Pan is incredibly young, but he really does a good job. He is accessible outside the class and posts clear notes. Lecture is helpful and you'll be fine if you really put effort in his class. Office hour is long and helpful.
In actually, his math8 is so easy that as long as you finished your hw, you will get an A. He is also patient and he'd like to answer students questions.
I think Pan is a great professor. His notes during the class are very clear, detailed and organized. He is very nice and willing to answer students questions. But he seems to be a little shy in the class. His tests are not too easy but you can get a good grade as long as you go over his notes and review questions. I eventually got an A+.
Hard final and homework. Weird rating system and grade distribution. Will NOT take again.
He did well in lectures and teaching, but the final was so tough and he didnt really curve our grade as he said he would. We got a final with 120 in total but 68 in average. He only changed the distribution of letter grades but not really curve the grades. That seemed unfair when he gave us such a tough final.
I love this professor. He is funny and easy-going. He also has really long office hours. Professor Pan is very understanding! He always makes sure to ask in the middle of lectures if we have any questions. As a new professor, he has done a wonderful job!
