I *adore* Elliot Ihm as a person and professor. His lectures are edited like YouTube vids and the material sticks without you because of it. You do have to do a decent amount of reading, but as long as you take half decent notes, you're golden. Responsive to students about midterm questions and scores. Plus the material is engaging on it's own
Breaks down psychological concepts/theories in a way that's super accessible and understandable. Frequently available to answer questions. He gets straight to the point in his lectures but also makes them interesting and relatable and funny. Feels like he's a friend telling you about something he learned, not just a professor teaching random stuff.
Eliott was really nice and very clear on how everything worked. He also lets you contest quiz and test questions if you think there might be an error. He admits his mistakes and is very flexible. He also offers extra credit. He is a very compassionate and hilarious person. Make sure to read and take notes! Not much reading. Makes study guides.
Greatest Professor. He's extremely knowledgable and you can tell he honestly cares for his students and their education. If you want to ace this class I truly recommend you taking the time and annotating the lecture notes bc most of the exam questions come directly from here or the readings. TAKE HIM
Best professor I've ever had. Also best online class. Took it over the summer during quarantine and actually looked forward to his lecture videos coming out they were so interesting and funny. Even when he had to go over boring content his personality made it fun. No homework, just lectures and exams which were very straightforward multiple choice
Elliott is such a great instructor. It honestly doesn't feel like you're doing work because it's such a fun class. Lots of EC opportunities and values his student's insight. Lecture videos are entertaining + informative!
elliott is such an amazing professor. his lectures kept me as entertained as a much as a youtube video would. he is the type of professor who really cares if his students are learning and enjoying his class or not by sending out surveys almost every week asking for tips on improving his class. i can tell he is really passionate about psychology!
Nothing to complain about. Professor Ihm is always extremely clear in his explanations of concepts. He is sure to point out when he isn't sure about certain things, and encourages students to validate or challenge certain answers with their own research.
Professor Ihm was a great Professor for my PSY1 Summer class. He was always ready to adapt to his students needs and would hold review sessions whenever we needed them. He is also really passionate about Psychology, and instilled some of that passion in us through his thorough lectures and stories. I definitely recommend him for PSY1.
Elliotts a great professor, great lecturer and a great guy. His lectures were interesting and enjoyable, homework was easy points, lots of extra credit. The only bad thing I can say is that PSY123 was honestly pretty difficult, to the level of PSY111. But the amount of effort he puts in and the quality of his lectures doesn't give room to complain.
I have taken several classes at UCSB and this was probably the most interesting, well structured, and fun class of them all. He made the material understandable and easy navigate. It doesn't mean the class or exams were easy, but you knew exactly what was expected of you. He was also very approachable and fair professor. I would give him 6.0
Great professor overall! Took him for summer session A and lectures are engaging. Would take this professor again!
Had Elliott for an online summer course and I cannot recommend him enough. Lectures are digestible and actually entertaining thanks to his cerebral (pun intended) humor and aptitude for online teaching. Highly accessible and clearly cares about the material. Workload was appropriate for the 6 week time crunch. Seriously such a cool guy and course.
He's one of my favorite lecturers at UCSB. Up there with the greats like Fridlund and Skirmantis. 10/10 would recommend any course he teaches!
Elliott is a great professor! He's one of the most approachable and accessible professors that I've had at UCSB. Elliott's lectures are very engaging. His exam questions can be tricky, but shouldn't be a problem if you engage in all of the class materials and ask questions. I learned a lot from this class and highly recommend Elliott as a prof.
Had professor Ihm for an online summer session. Hes awesome, hilarious & actual cares about you understanding the material! I would definitely recommend taking any of his classes!
He puts in a lot of effort to make the material enjoyable to learn!
Ive had Elliott for about a week so far and he is by far one of the coolest, most intelligent, and captivating professor I have had at UCSB. I highly recommend him because he cares about the subject matter and his students. I really hope he progresses into education because he is fantastic and fu**ing hilarious.
Prof. Ihm is honestly such a homie. Had him for a summer class so the material was condensed in a short period of time. Nevertheless, it was presented in a way that was clear and engaging. Elliott himself just seems like a genuine, caring teacher. Highly recommend.
Really enjoyed his class. Always willing to answer questions, and clearly passionate about the material. He has a background in marketing, and is consequently a great story-teller. We went through pretty much the whole book, but the reading isn't bad. There are just Midterm and Final multiple choice exams, quizzes, and experiments. An inspiration.
Intelligent, clever, and humorous.
