Hecht is a nice man, however his class was very difficult. He assigned way too much reading for a quarter and his tests were very difficult, even though we were allowed to bring notes. His lectures were confusing and dense and lacked a sense of direction for the class, I could never quite figure out what he was getting at.

AWESOME PROFESSOR! ONE OF THE BEST, very helpful, openminded, understanding, insipiring, eager to learn more and teach more...

Hechtic as all hell. I love the Hecht out of him.

Dr. Hecht makes any room come alive. He is very animated and passionate. His teaching is informative and inspiring. He is a wonderful professor.

He assigned a lot of reading and he is very boring. This class was not fun at all and I fell asleep more than a few times.

Funny guy....reminds me of my grandpa...in a good way... I would take his class, he seems to want us to learn, he teaches with Campo. VERY FAIR midterm...i've never had a test that fair.

Really awesome professor. I've had him for several religious studies classes and have always been impressed. He does assign a lot of reading, but the tests are pretty straight forward. Overall pretty good.

I loved the class, but Hecht really has no part in it. He doesn't teach anything, he's more of an announcer for all the guest speakers. He lost our midterms, & doesn't give people an A unless they visit office hours.something i didn't find out about until after the quarter...all around crap.

Becomming senile, talks incessantly about nothing. Not interested in student ideas. Big put down if you don't mouth his ideas.

Journalism was really fun with Hecht. I have taken many courses with him and they are all super fun and enjoyable. Make the most out of your experience with him, they guy is brilliant.

Great teacher. Really nice and grades easy. Lot of reading but if you dont do it you can still get a good grade just show up to lecture and take good notes. He seems like a really nice man.

Hecht shouldn't be allowed to teach 3 hour classes. He moved his powerpoint wayyy too quickly and got mad when we asked him to go back. When he couldn't make it to class, he insisted that we come on a different day, or watch the class at Kerr. Oh helll no

I took this class on Vietnam because everyone said it was super easy. I didn't read and never went to lecture and go a B+. He tells you whats gonna be on the midterm and your final is journal responses to the readings. Also, war veterans conduct lectures.

Hecht did not teach all the time but when he did his lectures where for the most part interesting. He had a lot of plugs for himself and his other classes.

Great professor. Really interesting material/readings, although there's more than I'm willing to do. Tremendously informative; the most important info is in lecture. Good speaker, easy to understand, organized, and a really nice, funny guy.

Hecht's lack of knowledge of the audio-video equipment when showing movies proved aggravating at times. Otherwise, a very interesting class with a professor that's passionate about what he teaches. I highly recommend taking this class; it's easy & fun.

As Hecht himself would say, he's a cool kat. Makes class interesting, if a bit confusing and busy

TONS of reading. I dropped out because of the reading in the class and did not get any GE out of it. However, he is great and the class is great. Not taught by lecture, taught through several guest speakers, with commentary by Hecht. Very clear.

He is very good, very fun and easy to understand as well as a giving and generous grader

Religion and film was one of the coolest classes I ever had the chance to take! It was very fun and I LOVED the movies he picked. He was funny,made great comments and he really knew what he was talking about. It was also one of the easiest classes at UCSB
