Don't buy the textbook. I literally never opened it and got an A in the class. Tests are ID's of major figures and events from lecture. One really long paper split into three phases.
I had to take this class to fulfill the history requirement for my GE and I absolutely hated it. If you're not into history, the lectures are EXTEMELY boring. The class is also super hard so you have to go to lecture and section.
AWESOME prof! She's SO nice and so helpful and her lectures are super crystal clear. She can really fly through a lecture but ask her to slow down a little and she'll willingly comply. She loves a rousing discussion in class and she's so enthusiastic about what she teaches. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Don't even buy the textbook, unless you never got to class. She's cool, really sparked my interest in history, while making me consider majoring in it. But she can fly through a lecture.
Did a lot of learning in this class! It was not easy getting an A, but it was a challenge, and i got a lot out of it. Her lectures are hard to follow at first, but once you catch her pattern, it's clear sailing.
Prof. lansing is really nice and doesn't give you a lot of useless information. her lectures are really clear and easy to follow. She is a very nice person too. Try to take 4B with her if you can.
No interest in history before but loved this class. She's awesome, very enthusiastic, willing to help students, keeps lectures interesting. I actually managed to pay attention in that 8 am lecture
While I like her excitement, and a lot of what she has to say is very interesting, I find her lectures to be on the whole very disorganized and difficult to follow. I do not recommend her classes unless you have a light schedule and enough time and interest to very carefully sort out what she is attempting to get across in lecture on your own.
All I know is, I walked into the 8am lecture, and there was coffee for us. Therefore, she is awesome.
as boring as lecture was, she tried to make it interesting. shes a really nice lady and isnt a hard ass or anything. if you get a good TA, you can get a good grade in the class. history sucks, but she was cool
She is such a great professor! Very enthusiastic and interesting
best Prof ever very helpful
She is such a nice lady!!! I loved lectures because she is so passionate about her work. I am horrible at history and found the class very very hard but other than that, I'm sure anyone else would have no problem with the class, as shes a great professor
Lectures were mostly clear, but sometimes she got off topic. For the most part class was okay.
She went to U of M. thats all i gotta say- shes awesome!! and i like her teaching style and she seems enthusiastic and passionate about what she teaches
Boring lecture... fall asleep in class couple times. ..
Don't take her for lower division-- the large class size throws her, but she's stellar for the smaller seminars. I took three upper div. classes with her and really enjoyed every one. She's got a lot of personality balanced with historical discipline and an analytical mind. She knows her stuff.
She encourages conversation about the material, and is the utmost authority on medieval scandals. take her if you want a challenging, yet interesting course
Boring and learned nothing. Hadto teach myself her material. Don't have to read any text book material, she never tests on that. Better suited to upper divisions, transfer if you've got her for lower division
Boring, unorganized. I have a feeling she would be better for uper division courses
I really enjoyed taking her history course. Interesting materials and lectures.
She trys but she needs to organize a bit more. I think she improves as time goes on. Definitely wants people to learn if nothing else.
Lecturer -- very monotone and droning. lectures are sometimes confusing and disorganized. Takes a few weeks to get your bearings on the material.
