Go to Thrower's office hours, he is very helpful and is always there for his students. He also answers e-mails very quickly. He has fair tests. Not hard as long as you know the lecture notes well. The tests aren't that difficult themselves, but the information that you need to remember is a LOT! Lots of drugs and diseases that appear multiple places.
Awesome professor, make sure you do the problem sets he gives you--they are like the tests.
Super awesome prof, i would say one of the best in MCDB dept. Super clear, go to his office hours, he might give you a nice rec letter too. Thanks prof Thrower
One of the best professors I have had so far! If you go to his office hours he takes the time to make sure you understand the concepts. Do all of the reader problems and you will do great in the class :)
very very nice guy. willing to help when you go to office hours. the material isn't too hard if you do all the problem sets. unfortunately he doesn't go over problems in lecture, and CLAS is a must. he does tend to put people to sleep in lecture.
Great Prof, very helpful, super organized and clean with notes, go to his office hours, study notes over an over and do reader probles, and you own...
Nicest and sweetest professor in the MCDB major. Oncology was the coolest class I took in MCDB, and I thought 138 was awesome. Treats his students well, gives us all the notes and makes us study guides! Thrower loves when you ask questions. Final was not what I expected but study well, integrate everything and you're golden!
he's really very easy to follow. very approachable in office hours, makes argueing for points very easy. pay attention in class, it's hard because he's dry, but youll do well if u do. bottom line: very friendly and good natured.
Had Thrower for both biochem and the intro pharmacology course. Can be quite dry in class, but his tests are straight from the notes. I didn't go to most of the classes and studied notes and got A-'s both quarters. Class is quite interesting, especially 126A. One of the best MCDB teachers, clear and concise and tests on his study guides.
good teacher, easy to follow. Overall great guy. had him for mcdb101a thought it was hard but did well. Had him for mcdb135, loved the class, he's a great teacher if you ignore his monotone voice, he really tries to help you out, especially if you go to his office hours. his tests are difficult, but just study your notes and you'll be fine.
very organized with his lecures, notes and tests, very helpful in office hours. straight forward and fun classes overall.
Freaking awesome, I've had him for 108C and 101a as well but he rocked in 126a
took it during summer... not as easy as u think. but he's one of the nicest and classiest science professor for sure.
although a very nice professor, do NOT take him for summer. He doesn't go over problems in class so you must always look outside for explanation and he doesn't always follow his study guides. I don't know how he is during regular quarters..
Can you say jetlag, .....thats all
The man has a really boring voice but is sooo nice in office hours and willing to help anytime. He wants you to pass and that's more than I can say about some of the other MCDB profs I've had.
He is a good professor. He presents the info for the class in a very clear and easy to understand way. He gives review pages before midterms which help a lot.
I've had thrower for three classes and he has been the clearest, most helpful at office hours, and most detail oriented prof in mcdb. Does everything on pwrpnt, has notes all online in case you miss class, he loves it when you visit in office hours.
very approachable, nice prof, he teaches straight from the book
nice guy and pretty good teacher
Very nice, and helpful. Kinda cute too!
