Terrible lecturer. Doesn't include example problems to entire concepts so you're going in blind to tests. You can look at prior exams but they do not explain everything. Go to section or perish. Do not wait until the last minute to study, it's nearly impossible to study using his lecture slides (trust me)! Nice guy but avoid!

One of the worst professor's I have ever had, can't teach, concepts aren't that hard (even if you have to teach yourself) so he relies on tricks to make his test harder than they need to be. Definitely go to section and pay attention, it's the only way to learn anything.

A purely MATH class. He spends huge weight to explain theory but it never come up on Exams. Doing past exams and going to OH or sections are essential cause his slides hardly show problem solving. After you getting how to do everything, be aware his wording sometimes wants to trick you. The average was high, so one reading error can be FATAL

Zack is a really nice guy who's enthusiastic about his job, but he's kind of erratic and he lectures at a high level that can be daunting. However, he gives you plenty of prior exams to study off of-- this class is a prime example of a "use past exams to teach yourself the material" type class

Horrible teacher. Test are essentially math test. Slides don't show you how to do problems. Go to office hours of TA's as well as multiple sections so you can actually learn. Only days you don't can't go to multiple sections are quiz days. A really poor teacher.

This Guy is the worst! he literally had the worst lectures I have ever been a part of, which can be discounted by the fact that it was a large lecture hall, but either way when test time came it was on stuff he had never even talked about. Avoid him like the plague.

Very good professor. Your understanding of the material is his priority in this class. Very easy class as well.

He is a nice and approachable guy, but his teaching does not cut it. I felt that lecture was pointless to attend, except for getting iClicker points. If you want to do well, go to OH and attend extra sections, especially around midterms/finals. Other than that, good luck beating out the rest of the class on material that he barely touches on.

Lectures are very boring; he tries to tie in real-life examples, but it is not interesting. He knows his material. I always fall asleep during lecture, but I still did pretty well in the course.

Lecture is very boring, but as long as you know how to do the problems from past midterms you should do well. Pretty good curve. A 79% was an A

Horrible professor, is very smart and cute but doesn't know how to teach. His looks don't help him being boring. Do the homework and practice exams. Don't bother with the lecture

decent class, bad at lecturing but he provides refreshing quantity of tools to study with and do well on exams

One of the few good econ professors at UCSB. Puts up slides and practice quizzes/tests online, gives iClicker points for attendance, doesn't move fast through lectures, clear and straightforward and genuinely wants to help his students do well. Go to section/OH if the concepts are too hard to grasp. Looks like Topher Grace. "Hi guys!" Classic.

his lectures are almost purely on irrelevant topics with most of the emphasis on theoretical concepts, while all his midterms and finals are PURELY based on calculations. he spends 15 minutes explaining what a supply/demand curve is, and then spends 30 seconds on the derivative equation for marginal revenue, leaving you with a huge headache

I don't know what you guys are on, Grossman is a good guy. Sure he's not as good a teacher as Babcock but he's new to this and he's getting better as quarters go along, and he wants his students to do well. The class itself is very hard, but its a theory based econ class, what do you expect?

Grossman is a very intelligent guy, but he is a horrible professor. Our first midterm was interrupted 5 times b/c he wrote the exam poorly. He would tell us "the numbers will be clean on exams" and then wed go thru optimization problems with 542249/2456. It was a joke, and hed take 0 responsibility for it. M/C exams = massive cheating.

Go to section, CLAS drop in, and form a study group. Work on the problem sets and be able to analyze them through math. In my opinion, it was one of the easier classes at UCSB. If you suck at math or don't study much, I could see how this class would be difficult.

although he covers theory, his exams are math problems. In order to get a good grade in this class you must master past exams and problem sets. What I mean is, you have to know how to do them and be able to translate the questions into math. A good understand of alg. and calc. is a big plus. Not a tough class. It's nothing compared to 100A.

His syllabus states that the death of a grandparent, aunt/uncle, or cousin is not a "valid excuse" for missing an exam. And if a parent/child/sibling died, it has to be within the last 5 days to be excused from the exam!!! What I find most interesting is the fact that UCSB actually ALLOWS him to get away with that. Sometimes freedom is a bad thing.

You have to guess on his tests. You can't really tell what he wants you to do in his tests so you gotta hope that you get it right.

Class is pretty easy just understand everything on past exams and your guaranteed a good grade. Lecture is useless you because the teacher can't teach. Attend section and office hours.

Class was easy as balls, IDK what some of you are on about. Multiple choice questions in exams are extremely easy and can be figured out through elimination/guess and check. Free response questions are basic. Lecture not necessary. The concepts and theory is hard to grasp, but if you just want an A, just study the problems and you're good.

Be prepared to work EXTREMELY hard if you want a decent grade. Everyone is right, lectures are pointless and will not help you at all for the exams, all theory and really drawn out. Go to section.
