The only professor I know that had every single seat filled in his Econ 3b class. His tests are pretty crazy but only if you totally slack off and don't bother to study.
Cool guy. Does not teach an easy class. His final totally sucked, but the material is stuff that everyone should learn.
Bud, you rocks....down with the man!
Took him for econ 3B and didn't make the gpa requirement. i got a C+ but that didn't stop me from entering into the major. i took econ 100A and i got an A! yay, i'm finally in the full major.
Sander's teaching is fine, but his tests are too long and convoluted to take in an 1 hr, 15 mins (if you even get the time...). Even if you know the material, you are racing to get the test done, and you make mistakes. He is trying to teach real world techniques and he fails miserably. His testing technique sucks!
Don't take Sander for 136C unless you enjoy suffering. I have never seen so many smart students do so poorly, despite their hardwork. Either take 136C with Harmon during the Summer, or don't take it at all. The knowledge gained for the CPA exam is not worth the drop in your GPA. Let someone else take the class and then have him or her teach you.
very hard class and tests are tricky. if you have a chance, try to take it at a community college over the summer and if you're lucky then take it with harmon during spring quarter or summer session. harmon is much easier.
very hard class, i never went to lecture and still got a C+ just cramming before the tests, if you actually go to class you should do fine, but definitely a stressful class
Sander's tests are impossible, but it's easy to get a B in the class bc he curves so much. Definitely buy the A.S. notes (they are the same as going to lecture, but are more organized and are actually legible!). The tutors were unhelpful --going to section was pointless.
Wow,I came out of his class exhausted. Like Sander said, this class is a total uphill battle; its harder than it should ever be. Quickbooks project & HW seemed pointless. So much pressure on tests, which are hard but nicely curved. Get A.S. notes! & do as many practice tests as possible to succeed
Hard midterms. The final is a little easier. Sander is the bomb. Funny and knows the material. Ignore all those babies below who are salty because Sander gave them a C in 3B and kept them out of the econ major. If you can't hack 3B, you should switch majors, maybe check out the poli sci dept.
what a wonderful teacher! he is so real!i enjoyed lecture (for the most part)b/c of the fun he would have and the stories he would tell. The best was that he applyed what we were learning to real life. If u just study all the practice finals and really take the time to understand youll rock in econ3b
Most intelligent lecturuer I have ever had?RIGHT! Maybe this class wouldn't be so hard if he would just FU*$ING tell you what you need to learn and stop leading into tangents that show off his biggoted perception of the "real world" that he has "mastered"? Classic example of who you don't want to be
Sanders is a horrible lecturer! Applies every theory to Motel 6, and leads lectures down oscure tangents when you wish he would just make a powerpoint and keep it simple (and legible). His handwriting looks like my 2 year old cousin's. "Tutors" disorganized, loud, unhelpful. TAKE HARMON not SANDER
This guy is a great. Although the rumors are true... He's got some tough tests. But after taking his class you'll realize that he teaches you far beyond his class. I've felt like I haven't had to study in later classes because I remember what I learned from him. Study Hard... You'll be fine.
Very straightforward guy who deals with real concepts instead of filling his lectures with garbage like other professors. Some say he's a harda$$, but I like him because he's opinionated and teaches in a unrestricted manner. Teaches quality stuff. If you want quality learning, take him.
Best teacher I ever had? Give me a break. Sander is a condescending capitalist that feeds off the class's ability to boost his ego with his arrogant outlook on the realworld. His jokes are hardly funny and if I have to hear another story about his 1 month escapade at Motel6 I am go die. Take Harmon.
One of the best teachers @ UCSB. Keeps you interested with his real life examples. Exams are very challenging but if you do the old exams you should be alright. He throws all this tricks on the recap problem and no way for preparing for it!!
good teacher, hard class, not enough time given for the midterms
Prof. Sander was one of the best teachers I have ever had. The recap question on the final is impossible in the time allowed, but as long as you listen to the lectures and study old tests you can pass. He makes accounting interesting...which isn't to easy to do.
Sander's is a pretty good teacher. I have had better. He is not that funny or interesting so I fell asleep in lecture everyday. I would advise you to stay up though, because you'll need it. His class is pretty hard but study the old test and take good notes, everything will be on the test.
Easy lecture, very hard test, impossible to do within the time limit.
Sander is the most intelligent teacher i've had at UCSB. His class is really challenging, but if you study a lot of the old tests you should be ok
Sander knows his stuff and his class seems very relevant to the real world and he applies his own personal experiences to the material well. Class is difficult but if you attend all the lectures and do the pratice tests religiously you will most likely do well.
