This prof made me never wear my seatbelt to class. Grades based on tests and quizzes. Her in quizzes are hard and chooses specific questions to confuse her students? You either do really well on her exams or fail. Many of the students in that class wanted to unalive themselves. I wouldnt reccomend taking her class during summer. Chill lady though.
the professor is lovely and she is definitely passionate about her class and very kind, however, be prepared to read a lot, it seems like her paper is based mainly on memorization and gives a lot to write about in a short period of time. Her quizzes are the worst it is based on the most minor details. Never worked that hard in a pols class before
This class wasn’t easy by any means, but it’s one of my favorite intro classes I’ve taken. She’s a good professor and is engaging. You’re only graded on a few things but the tests are nice because it shows how you can apply the material and not remember every random detail. I took a lot from it, it’s a good required course.
content is heavy cuz she covers a lot of regimes in the class. one country per lecture or two. No actually rubrics but the grading is fair as long as you spend time in the paper and go beyond the lecture content, making clear arguments with evidence in readings she gave. Her class is organized and inspirational. the best professor ive had in UCSB!
Professor Moosbrugger is the best professor I have ever had not only in UCSB. She is a respected scholar and extremely passionate about the field and eager to make changes. I feel her lectures are powerful and her teaching is excellent, organized, and clear. You can really learn a lot in her class, a perfect class of intro to compols.
her lecture structure makes no sense, i only took the class as a major requirement but i literally would not take another one of her classes. she doesn't give a rubric for her papers, assignments are poorly written and purposefully confusing. i would recommend trying to wait for another prof to teach the course.
This class was very well structured and Prof Moosbrugger is so knowledgeable on the topic! It's only graded on 3 exams, so you really have to keep up with everything. Also, you can't just repeat everything from your notes on exams - you have to go beyond that. In this way, I'd say it's not an easy A. However, I highly recommend the class!
She's one of the best professors I've taken for POLS and is very knowledgeable about each country. She broke down the material into overarching themes that made it a lot easier to figure out what to focus on. I didn't do any of the textbook reading, studied her lectures/slides, and tried to learn more than just try to get a grade. Great TA, easy A.
Very good lecturer, good slides that make more sense if you go to lecture but she usually will post them online as well. There was lots of reading but the lectures really connected the material. Not a super easy class but she is a very good professor and the content is interesting! She can even make the class laugh too!
Very educated in her subject. Just show up and do the readings and you will pass.
Great teacher. She knows her material and presents it in a straight forward way. I learned a lot from her and enjoyed her class very much. Her exams are straight forward but require that you study and really understand the subject so you can present your own views and understandings and not just regurgitate data. Go to class - learn - enjoy
One of the most engaging classes I've had here. I loved it! It is really about what she is passionate about, and it shows. I wish we had had more time to discuss! You'll want to go to class, maybe skim the book (but attentive attendance was enough for me) and essay tests are straightforward and easy if you've paid attention. 6 & 144 are great too!
Amazing lady. Went to office hours just to learn more from such a knowledgable professor. Class was difficult but got me interested in Political Science. Thanks Prof!
AMAZING professor! She really gets you to open up your mind and take genuine interest in the material. You definitely have to work for your grade but it's worth the effort! She is very knowledgeable and you can tell that she actually takes a genuine interest in teaching. Very organized and very approachable, HIGHLY recommend the class.
Professor Moosbrugger is AMAZING! No, the class is not easy, and she makes you work hard for a good grade. But, the information is so relevant and interesting. She is so approachable and helpful, too!
Amazing professor. Catch a small class with her without TAs and she's just awesome. Nice chunk of the grade for this course came from a model EU group that and from a cake paper. It's not hard to do well in this course.
She's very knowledgeable, very organized, and very approachable. She's not too found of American electoral systems and doesn't try to hide her bias, but if you're open minded she's certainly worth taking classes from. She also gives out study guides for exams and assigns easy essays.
she knows her stuff well, is experienced and helpful. could appear as a bit intimidating at first but that's probably because she's very articulate and knowledgable. once you go talk to her you'll find her to be helpful and sweet. recommended. oh and i feel like she has zero tolerance for bulls*it so do the work and do it right, you'll learn a lot.
Amazing class and professor. If you don't want to stay ignorant take this class. Moosebrugger is a sassy teacher who has great lectures-- very organized and clear. The textbook is actually intriguing and the class is a must If you want actual higher education. Everyone should take this class no matter what major you are.
This is a good class for those who are interest for those who are interested in comparative politics. The professor is extremely clear in her lectures and most TAs are more than helpful
She is amazing and the reason I'm now majoring in PolySci
She is an amazing professor. All of her lectures are crystal clear even when the subject is complicated. She answers questions very well and I never leave the lecture hall confused.
One of the best professors I've ever had. She makes the class interesting and really knows the material. This class actually made me consider switching majors. However, the class is somewhat labor intensive so you'll have to work hard. And get Marcus for your TA if you can.
I really liked this class. She knows her information well, so well she doesn't need powerpoint slides to organize her lectures. I'm pretty sure she could recite everything and her examples from memory. Only wish it was a week longer so we could have done more countries like Brazil.
