Such a nice woman. Book not necessary if you attend lectures. Straightforward class, and Shelly wants you to do well. Highly recommend.
She is not only an excellent teacher but she will assist those who seek out her time outside of class. If your planing on going to graduate school she can be of great assistance to you.
I rarely went to class, which is why I received such a poor grade. I recommend her because she is the kindest professor I have ever had at UCSB, she helped me through a rough experience, was very understanding and took my situation into concern when grading me. Great professor, must take!
Had her over six years ago for social such at ucla. Was a psych major and she made social psych my favorite area within psych. Years later I still remember stuff from her class. UCSB is lucky to have her.
Amazing professor. She is funny and makes the class interesting. The tests are fair and she posts the slides online. Loved this class. Definitely recommend taking it.

Great Great Great professor! Look over the posted slides on gauchospace a LOT, do the required readings (they're actually interesting), make sure you understand the concepts, and you will have no problem at all in this class. The class is one of the best I've taken at UCSB!
Loved her! She keeps class interesting and she's willing to elaborate if she thinks people are confused. Tests are fair and she puts up all her slides on GS to study from. I'd love to take another class with her.
GREAT professor. She was pregnant the whole quarter and had her baby the second to last class and still came to the last class TWO days after giving birth. Even with all those hormones going she still managed to be AWESOME and never was she moody or mean. Tests are VERY fair just study lecture slides and read the book!
She's great. I had her when she was preggo and she was adorable and still rockin it up there on stage. She was a great professor and she really knows her stuff. choose her if youre interested in taking psych 102!
Good lecturer. Reading is not necessary to understand the material or pass the course with a high grade. I found I did better when I studied off her lecture slides provided online. The material itself seemed fairly easy. I enjoyed the class.
This class was kind of boring. The material was very interesting but her delivery didn't always cut it. However, the class was pretty straight forward. Go to class, read, study, you'll do great. Posts lecture notes online. I got a B+ with minimal effort.
Wonderful teacher! Her lectures are crystal clear. She is one hell of a lecturer, everything a prof. should be. The book she uses is great, super short chapter, and very interesting. Tests are very fair: go to lecture and read. You'll actually want to. The questions on her tests are straight from lecture. One of my favorite classes so far! Have fun
Shelly is a great teacher, her lectures are always interesting and filled with great info and jokes. I had her for Psy 102 and I'm now taking her Psy 120L class, shes just awesome. Social psych is already interesting but she makes it fun!

Excellent teacher! She actually supplements the material. Probably one of the best teachers I've had. She really makes the subject interesting. Her tests are challenging, but her grading is fair. Definitely going to take another class with her!! Also, she's at UCSB now. :)
Great class, gets through quite a lot of stuff in not much though. the book is really good, def buy it especially if you havent covered the material before. class is fun and interesting. Prof is helpful and freindly. Take this class if you are interested in social psych at all.
Dr. Gable is an easy grader. Her tests are not difficult. She could be boring at times and emotional. She is monotone. she like to help outside her class too.

She's really cool. She drives the points home and her exams are REALLY fair. It's a fun and easy subject and she always has interesting examples/stories. Highly recommended professor.
