Probably my favorite professor at UCSB. Genuinely cares about the wellbeing of her students. Provides really thoughtful feedback. Wants to see you succeed. Super available outside of class and an excellent resource for basically anything you could ever want to know about the TESOL field, including job opportunities!

Jan is a great professor. She is very interested in her students and is a great person to talk to if you need advice about ESL/EFL jobs. The grammar rules can be intimidating but Jan does a good job of explaining and providing you with what you need to succeed.

Jan is one of my favorite teachers here at UCSB. She's so nice, down-to-earth, and likes to interact with her students. The class has a lot of work, but you'll learn a lot, and it's not all boring stuff. I highly recommend this class, take it, and learn something new! The professor is great!

Great teacher, interesting class, workload is challenging. The course is demanding, but all the effort you put in will bring about practical knowledge you can apply in other classes. If you like language learning/teaching, it's the right place for you. Begin your assignments early, be sure to meet all the deadlines. Keep up w/the readings.

Great professor. The class required a lot of writing, but she takes the time to read what you write and grades it fairly.

Great teacher- smart, fun, and you can tell she loves her job. I had a great time in her class.
