Professor Mayes is easily one of the best instructors I've ever had. He is extremely inspirational and genuinely cares about all of his students. He's super passionate about teaching, and I got a lot out of this class. I could not recommend his classes more!!

awesome prof. i got a 79 on the mid but 100 on the final. ended with an A-. the only criticism is that i received my midterm score 5 days before the final was due. that's lowkey the TA's fault tho.

Great prof very funny: lectures were always engaging. Take home essay for midterm and final, but its easy if you take good notes and skim some readings. Attendance mandatory, 2 excused absences, but attending OH clears absences. Highly recommend a very interesting subject and easy A. Loved Professor Mayes!

Awesome professor and class is so interesting! The only thing is that I was assigned more readings for this class than I have maybe ever at UCSB, so even if you try your absolute best it is very unlikely you'll be able to keep up with the readings all the time. Otherwise I absolutely recommend this class or any class with Professor Mayes!

We only had a midterm and final. Smooth grader. Funny in lecture. slides don't align with what he says, I didnt read but finding the books were easy online.
