Literally did not do a thing in this class. I never read, attended half the lectures and didn't pay attention much. There are no tests or quizzes, just a final paper. I never bought or used the reader. I spent one day on this class sweating out the 15 page paper and got a pass (took it P/F). Should be an EASY A with any kind of effort

It's an interesting class but the professor lectures in an old school style (meaning there are no power point slides). This may bother some but I personally liked it. If you're good at writing research papers, then this class is for you as your whole grade is based primarily off two papers. The major downside is how many textbooks he makes you get.

Rock is one of my favorite professors at UCSB. Its like having Sean Connery teach the class

Rock ROCKS!!!!! He knows literally everything about Argentina. Reading isn't required and the only assignment is a paper which is really long but if it's decent you'll get an A. The coolest British dude ever. Loved the class.

Very nice man, but useless teaching style. If you like listening to a teacher talk for 75 minutes straight without telling you what's important, then take his class. At least outline your lectures!

Rock is a boring professor whos hard to understand cause of his english accent. Your grade comes solely from your ta and they try to grade hard for some reason. dont attend lecture; only your section once a week. 2 paper topics come from whatever you choose to write about. You get to pick it and tell your ta what ur writing about.

Professor Rock is awesome. Find something you are interested in and run with it. Work hard, share your results, and you will have no problem in his classes.

Rock knows Argentina. A lot of people complain about his lack of Power Point, but his lectures cover all the pertinent subjects. If you know how to take notes his class won't be a problem. There is no assigned reading or midterms/finals. Just write a good paper and you will get an A.

YOUR GRADE DEPENDS 100% ON YOUR TA. He has A LOT for you to read but you really have to know only 2 of the 4 topics (AKA you only need to go to the lectures that apply to what you want to write about). You can either write 2 essays (one 5.5, the other 8-10), write one essay and take the midterm, or write one essay and take the final. GET AN EASY TA

his knowledge of argentina is superb, his lectures are pretty entertaining and engaging, although I could see ppl complaining about him not stopping his lecture for questions, he usually does this when he tries to foresee you question. other than that I really enjoyed the class

Great lecturer, friendly, very enthusiastic about what he teaches, loves Argentina history. You can chose to take a midterm/final or write two papers. The TA does all the grading. She is nice but strict. Way too many books to buy, even though we barely touch all of them.
