The labs and midterm are impossible without any previous knowledge in coding! The concepts taught in lecture are NOT applicable to lab/projects. On top of this, it is so vague what certain questions are asking in the midterm project. Not straightforward at all.
Prof Tanna goes slow during lectures, and covers the basics of Data Science. Most, if not all of the content comes straight from the book. All concepts taught in lecture are clear, but the concepts taught in lecture are hardly enough to help with the labs and the projects. The midterm itself had difficult questions with horribly worded questions.
This class isn't much of an introductory course. While she explains things very slowly in the lecture, the labs ask you to bridge an insane gap from what you learn in the lecture. The lecture would feel very elementary, and then I would go home to do the lab and be completely blindsided. If you are an actual programming beginner, do not take this.
Great professor. She goes through the content very slow bc it's technically an intro course. She's great at answer any questions during lecture and it's highly encouraged. If you're ever confused on a topic she's more than happy to help you (and the teaching staff too). Be prepared to use Ed Stem (she doesn't reply to emails).
