Prof. Walker engaged with his students during lectures and taught in-depth class material. He wouldn't go too fast during his lectures which was very helpful when taking notes and retaining the information. Most of your grade is participation in section assignments which are labs. I would recommend this class for an easy GE.

The course is taught with pretty low effort, the section is required attendance but literally treated like a study hall. Big waste of time. I think Professor Walker is funny and I like him as a person but it sucks that this is a required course for the Geog major.......

Would not recommend this professor, he is not a good teacher and incredibly hard to reach. His tests are incredibly vague, and there is a reason people get a lower grade in his course when he teaches.

Don't listen to any of the other reviews because Geo 3 with this prof is one of the WORST classes. He clearly puts very little time into the lecture material/tests and just copies master slide decks from previous courses. There is a reason why the grade average goes down when he teaches the course, and it's because he SUCKS at teaching.

Such a fun class. Took this class during the strike and Walker was supportive of his TA's, but did not let the students suffer, he stepped up big time. Really caring for his students and passionate about climate change too!

I switched to a geography major because of Professor Walker! I loved the way he could relate his material to what was going on in the real world. His practice quizzes and learning objectives make everything very clear - i made a pretty hefty study guide off his lecture slides and felt really confident going Into his exams. Awesome person

Very nice guy, wants students to succeed. You'll get out what you put into this class, but it's a ton of memorizing. Once memorized, application is very simple. Labs are easy, and midterms are scarily similar to practice tests. Only got a B because I neglected the class to study for chem.

I think this class is better for auditory learners since he talks a lot. His class itself was nice but he gave a lot of readings. His tests stressed me out since he had those "a and b" multiple choice. Read the material and go to office hours, you'll do fine. iClicker was annoying ngl. Would've enjoyed the class itself if it was not so early.

Take attendance for both lecture and section. 5 section activities, lowest score dropped. 2 midterms + 1 final, all MCQs. I stepped into this class with little geography knowledge, but have learned so much after the quarter. Prof. Walker is amazing! His lectures are even much clearer than the textbooks imo. Going over his slides before exams helps.

Online course. Lectures were heavy with material.. TOOO many notes to take. There was so much that was needed to memorize. Labs were hard to understand, but he dropped your lowest one which helped. MC midterm and final but they were extremely difficult. They consisted of ALL the readings, lectures, and assignments. No curve.. not an easy GE!!
