Molander is my GOAT, took her for summer session B and she was able to fully convey concepts in such a short time. Extremely fair with tests and homework as long as you do your homework you will be fine! While most lectures are filled with fast paced note-taking, she is responsive to questions in class during lectures. Take her if you can!
Honestly felt like a note-taking class. The entire lecture is just watching Professor Melody write down her notes from her iPad rather than elaborating on the math. Melody makes a lot of mistakes in lecture. If your mind wanders for one bit, you won't be able to catch up because she goes so fast with the contents. Self study with 3Blue1Brown.
Firstly, Melody was actually really nice and easy to deal with administratively. That said, sometimes the class felt a lot more like watching her quickly work through problems than being taught step by step. Melody is clearly very knowledgeable about the course content, but can be hard to follow at times when lecture topics become complicated.
Best professor at UCSB ever!
I took vector calculus with her and I was terrified I would fail the class. Somehow, I managed to get an A and it was all because of how well she explained the concepts in her lectures and how nice the grading was.
Great instructor. Her statement about theories might be a little confusing, but she would gives tons of examples to help you keep up with her pace. The exams are quite basic and relevant to the examples she gives in lecture. The homework is neither hard nor heavy but can be very helpful to understand the material. Everything is just about right!
Very lenient exam grader! Willing to hear students feedback and the homework is a little bit difficult at times, but the TAs and Molander are very easy to reach out to.
I loved Melody as an instructor! Took her for summer session B and it was fast, but manageable. I attended office hours every week and she was always super helpful with the homework and going over the exams. She and the TAs got exams back quickly. Her exams were fair and the lectures were essential to doing well. I would recommend her to anyone!
Probably the best math lecturer I've had thus far. Took her math 4A course during session B of M20 and while there were a lot of lectures, they were done in a fairly enjoyable way. Fast responses to emails, lots of office hours opportunities, and a very fair grader. Exams were written fairly and were a nice mixture of application and theory.
