Super interesting readings and material. There is a creative & informative section group project (25%) that is presented to the lecture hall at the very end of the quarter. Was worried at first, but was pretty easy and interesting. No textbook. Prof. Takamori super nice and intelligently answers questions and facilitates discussion during lecture.

One of the best classes I have yet taken. I always learned something new, and a new way of viewing the world and creating my own opinions from what I observe in my everyday life. Even though some of the readings were very long, and Asian American Studies is not my major/minor I would, in all honesty, take a class if Takamori is the professor.

Out of all the professors I had at UCSB, I would say Takamori was by far one of the most passionate. Although it was her first quarter at UCSB, through her class I sincerely broadened my horizons and see society in a much different light than I did prior. If you have any questions or comments she is very open and always willing to listen
