Best professor in my first year. He makes clear explanations to problems. He writes detailed solutions for multiple questions in each lecture. And he addresses many important concepts while solving and explaining. Math 4B is not an easy class, but Dr. Paul definitely make it better and easier to understand. Homeworks are highly related.
Dr. Paul is an excellent instructor! Although he moves quickly at times, he is very clear and takes care to ensure that everyone is keeping up. iClickers and Graded Problems give you a feel for his exam question style and WebWorks with unlimited tries give you plenty of material to practice with. Take notes and you'll never need the textbook.
Math 4BI was Dr. Pauls inquiry-based differential equations class. He did an excellent job guiding us through the material and explaining the important concepts. He communicated ideas clearly and was an incredible lecturer. The class was a lot of work and skipped over some material, but thats to be expected (since it was inquiry-based).
Great Professor. Not super easy, but if you put in the work, he will make you understand the material very well.
Stepan is definitely one of the best math professors at UCSB. His classes are not easy, but they are manageable. His lectures are very helpful and straightforward. Definitely recommend taking his classes!
He is the best math teacher in UCSB! Very helpful and know math very well. Enjoy his class!
Dr. Paul is simply the best math professor I've ever had. As long as you show up to lecture and pay attention, you will get at least a B.
Paul was an AMAZING lecturer. I took AP calc my sophomore year in high school, got a C in math 3B and was so scared for this class. I went to CLAS, studied with friends, and went to every class and got an A. There's a ton of homework but it's all extremely useful. His midterms were very fair (averages in the 70-80's) but the final was harder
Dr. Paul is one of the best professors on campus, definitely the best in undergraduate math.
Good professor, very knowledgeable but I personally don't like the way he teaches simply because he does not really do examples in class that can be shown in homework/test. 90% of this quarter, I rely on CLAS and online videos to learn the class materials. I strongly recommend the CLAS tutor(I wish he can do 6B next quarter but nah, he can't)
Paul is an amazing professor and one of the best in the math department. He teaches through iclicker questions and writing on the board and he explains things really well. There's homework due every week, but he does drop the lowest score on webwork and graded problems (due in section each week). He curves each test, but not the overall class.
Attended almost every lecture. Going to lectures was helpful. Section not so much. Had 2 clearly explained grading criteria. A normal one where everything like attendance and webwork etc. counts and a slacker genius which is mainly exam dependent. As long as someone in your section takes your hw in you'll be fine. Best math prof. I've had yet
