Professor Pfaff is an incredible professor. Her lectures are amazing and clear. Her hmwks are hard, well made, and help you understand the material. She really puts her students first and works hard to help everyone. Don't fall behind or you might get left behind. I wish I could take her for every class and it's a damn shame she's left UCSB.

Amazing lecturer, one of the best at UCSB. However she assigns lots of very difficult homework, I never got more than 50% on any of the homework. She curves a lot though, so I still ended up with a very good grade. Mandatory attendance and iClicker questions. Only bad part of lecture was that we weren't allowed to use any electronic devices.

Professor Pfaff is the real deal. If you love the math and have the chance to learn from her do not pass it up. You will become a smarter person for it.

If you put in the work, you'll get a good grade. Extremely fair class, and she's always down to help you out if you choose to reach out to her. Really funny and makes class interesting! Goes at your pace and makes sure you understand the material during lecture. Took Math 3A and 3B with her, would definitely recommend you take a class with her.

After taking more math courses in UCSB, I can say that Pfaff is probably the best math professor you can expect to get. She explains the solution clearly and is always willing to help. Her lectures are so good that even I had 3b at 8am I didn't miss any of them. Understanding her notes can at least help you get a B.

Pfaff was an excellent professor. She presented the material clearly, and her lectures were easy to follow. Her class for Math 8 was straightforward and covered all of the important material, and her exams accurately tested for understanding. The homework was helpful. She was kind of difficult at times, but it didn't interfere with her teaching.

her lectures can be lengthy and confusing but if you go to office hours she is really nice and will work through anything you are having trouble with.

Professor Pfaff is an amazing math professor who cares about her students' success. In lecture, she gives many examples and constantly asks if we have ?'s. She uses colored chalk which helped me at least keep my notes organized and see step by step how to solve a problem. She gives out a lot of hw, but she also offers a lot of office hours.

Pfaff was always enthusiastic and had organized, clear lectures. I really got the sense that she wanted her students to succeed -- she let the final replace the midterm when everyone tanked and offered extra office hours before finals. Grading was extremely fair and balanced (5% grade boost for 90% attendance). Lots of homework, but it's helpful.

Ignore the poor reviews that make Professor Pfaff out to be difficult. As long as you have a good algebraic and trig foundation, and actually do all the homework (What a thought!), you will pass. Professor Pfaff gives participation points that boost your grade by half and even allowed the final to replace the midterm score. Would take again!
