His board work is confusing and everywhere, but he is very helpful outside of the classroom. He answers emails quickly and is willing to arrange extra office hours if you cannot make it . The exams are tough, but the grading scale is fair. He gave practice exams, which were good preparation for the actual exam.

One of the easier math teachers, which is saying something. He is pretty clear about what he wants you to know and doesn't try to trick you.

Professor Cotton-Clay is the best Math professor I have had at UCSB. He knows his stuff and is extremely helpful in Office Hours. Gives easy exams and puts emphasis on homework (which is challenging but not impossible, he wants you to work through it). Overall, I give this professor an A+; I really recommend taking his class!

Hands down THE best math professor I've ever had to this day. I had him Spring 2015 so I'm kinda late on this. But my god, he knows how to teach! And his exams are insanely reasonable. Cannot wait to take an upper div math class with him! Cannot recommend enough!!

Homework was not tedious at all. Besides the fact that you basically have to buy the textbook for the online HW, I didn't even look at it. Very nice guy, sections are ehh but there was a quiz almost every time.

Best math professor I met so far. He posted notes online which is great. His tests are reasonable. If you go to the lecture and do the homework, it is a solid A.

Andy is a great professor. He really knows his stuff about the subject and is extremely approachable. You don't really need the book other than to get the online code for homework.

Overall, a professor who knows the material and is clear in conveying and teaching the material as well. His lectures are filled with good examples and he's willing to answer and questions students have. Grading isn't too harsh.
