Dr. Osuna is an amazing professor, I took SOC 358. Great and engageful lectures. Participation points count. Not many assignments, so work extra on those assignments. The structure of the class starts with a group discussion about the reading, and then lecture that is engageful. Readings are interesting. All his classes are structured the same!
If you want to get a critical view of the criminal justice system, Professor Osuna is the one for you. The class involves talk about police brutality, the prison system, and the black lives matter movement. Clear grading criteria. His class is easy to pass, just do the work! Best class i took so far at csulb. you learn alot.

Steven is one of the best Sociology instructors I've ever had! He is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about many social issues. I highly recommend going to his office hours. Even if you don't have any particular question or concern, just chat with him! He really makes you think and he's so easy to talk to. Highly recommend him!
Amazing class! I had him for an 8am over summer and he was just very enthusiastic. You can tell he loves what he's talking about and he makes his lectures really interesting. Definitely take him if you have the chance to!
Such a good professor, well more like Graduate Student but I have liked him that some of my professors by far! So much enthusiasm, comes prepared to class. I had an 8 AM and still went the material is great, even though there is A LOT of reading it is well worth it. Biweekly 3 pg assessments, quizzes every other week, and final 9/10 pager.
One of the best sociology teachers at UCSB. His lectures and assignments are clear and he is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what he teaches. Easy to talk to and very helpful. There is a lot of reading but it is well worth it.
