Doug is the man. I was really pleased with his practical approach to the material (not trying to make things harder than they should be). His HW were great prep for quizzes, he kept the class at a great pace and always interesting. Recommended if you get the chance.

Great professor. Very clear and has great lecture slides. Attend lecture and take good notes, do the homework and you will be fine. Also go to his office hours he is really nice and helpful.

Great professor, one of the best I've had at UCSB. Explains everything very clearly and his exams are very fair.

6B is no joke, his tests were harder than Guruswamy's and he's not that great of a lecturer. The two midterms can be tricky and if you screw up badly on one of them you don't have a chance for an A. For us he made the final quite easy to boost our grades back up but this class is no joke.

Good teacher, explains things well especially during office hours. Don't do that many examples in class though. Tests are straightforward, he doesn't try to trick you.

I thought this guy would be great because he sub'd for 6A a few times and I liked the way he was teaching. WRONG. He just wastes 60% of lecture time doing demonstrations of things that mean nothing when it comes to taking the test. He gives almost NO practice problems, his lecture and HW assignments are 20 folds easier than the tests!No bueno

Though he may be nice, no matter how hard you study for this class, his test will be completely irrelevant. It isn't about learning, it's about how lucky you get when guessing on the exams. Absolutely ridiculous. Don't recommend him at all, especially if you're pre med and is just trying to complete required classes. It's infuriating.

Awesome professor. my first take taking a physics course and he made it very enjoyable. does lots of demos in class to make the concepts more understandable. has a nice curve at the end

Awesome teacher. Very clear, very helpful with learning how to present our problems in the problem sessions, always willing to help the students. Office hours are extremely helpful, as he gives hints to the problems. Awesome

Folsom was an awesome physics professor. He constanly did demos which made the class engaging and made you want to learn more. My HS physics teachers made me hate physics but Folsom made me love it! His tests aren't too difficult as long as you study. His pace was fast for summer but still reasonable. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!

Try to get him if you can, will make physics interesting and therefore easy. Nice guy, extremely helpful in office hours too.
