Funny guy, interest in subject matter combined with political background. Lectures engaging, he also invited in guest speakers from time to time. Only complaint was that he asked us to buy a textbook that I didn't need to open once.

Super easy to understand with good stories and keeps all information current and up to date. His paper are interesting topics and sticks close to the material. The final is formatted in a way that makes studying hard for but not to hard to do.

I took PS127 with him and the class and material itself was very interesting, but he is very unhelpful during office hours and doesn't seem to care for you at all as a student or human being. I disliked how the class doesn't teach you how to improve either. You just get the grade you receive and that's it. Sections don''t help you either.

Englund's work experience in the realm of political science is extensive; he even worked for the FBI. His assignments are very applied. I would recommend taking both PS 121 and 127 with Englund as I did, learned a lot. The material is also very interesting, at least IMO.

Englund has worked in politics and the FBI so he has some real-world experience to base his lectures on. You can tell he's new to teaching but he will probably improve over time. Papers were difficult, he wants to challenge people and have them practice the practical applications of political science, which was a great learning experience.

Lectures are fairly straight-forward PP and not overwhelming at all. Definitely optional. The exams were fair and reasonable, although the reading was only necessary for the papers.
