Probably my favorite professor so far. Class is easy, but it does require work (go to section and lecture, take good notes, quizzes, short writing assignments). Professor Dirkse is makes the class fun and you actually really learn! You do have to go to a concert and buy a reader (but that's all you need).

Dirkse's Music 15 class is maybe my favorite class I have taken thus far. He's passionate about the subject & helping students learn. Also, this is probably the easiest classes at UCSB. Go to lecture everyday and fill out your notebook, and you'll get 10 extra credit points. Papers & quizzes are easy. It doesn't get much easier than this class

I am OBSESSED with professor Dirkse!!! I actually enjoy attending his lectures, and he makes everything so interesting, and easy to learn. As if that wasn't enough, he's extremely attractive, funny, and cool! TAKE THIS CLASS! My favorite as UCSB so far!

Scott was an engaging professor, I highly recommend taking this course with him. My TAs were also great and extremely willing to help out, not to mention would also perform for us. The quizzes and papers have very clear guidelines and it is clear what is expected of you in order to do well. Highly recommend!

Scott is hands down the BEST professor at UCSB. Lecture is mandatory for the notes, but I actually look forward to lecture because its super interesting and fun. He's super passionate and knowledgeable. 80% of the class gets A's and 20% get B's.

Scott is hilarious! A great professor and truly cares about his students. Lectures are never boring. Only cons are the cumulative quizzes. Although, they are not difficult, provided study guides are the same as the quizzes. Just be ready to do lots of memorization. My favorite professor for GE courses by far!

100% my favorite professor here at UCSB. He is unbelievably knowledgable and actually made the subject matter interesting. I took this as an easy GE and found myself not wanting to miss a single lecture. Professor Dirkse makes the subject interesting and fun to learn... so much so that I was actually sad when the class ended. TAKE THIS CLASS.

The best professor ever! His class was my favorite this quarter. He provides all the notes you will need and makes lectures fun (he's a jokester.) 4 papers, 4 quizzes, & final. Nothing tricky (he provides study guides.) I only spent $15 on this class- $5 for reader & $10 for mandatory concert. Dirkse is great!! You won't regret taking this class!

Professor Dirkse is a wonderful teacher. He's organized, presents most information in an interesting way, plays relevant video clips decently often, and knows what he's talking about. He lays out what you need to know in order to get an A and sticks to it. He's also very involved if you need to contact him. One of the best teachers I've had at UCSB

Very entertaining and passionate professor. He is straightforward with his quizzes and the papers are nothing to worry about. Just make sure you attend lecture and section. The extra credit gives a huge grade bump and is really easy to do. This class also doesn't require a textbook, which saves a lot of money. Highly recommend this class.
