SOC101 . 6 Years Ago

My first class back! I really appreciated Dr Sprague helping me during office hours to improve my essay's structure. I learned a lot from lecture & the text. I never knew the background of how race, class, and gender relations formed. The course got me thinking about the world and its complexities. This course was fascinating!!! I learned so much.

He's a very nice guy and it wasn't a very hard class but the lectures were super boring especially for a 101 class, he doesn't make you more interested in the topic exactly. essays and pop quizzes, no tests. he doesn't put in grades until the end of the semester. I would not recommend this class at all!!!! easy but not fun

IT WAS A LOT OF READING BUT THEY WERE FASCINATING AND WE LEARNED A LOT. HIS POWERPOINTS IMPROVED AS THE QUARTER WENT BY. LOTS OF INFORMATION. TAKE IT BUT BE READY FOR THE READING. HE TAKES ROLL SOMETIMES AT START & END! THE PAPERS HAVE TO BE STRUCTURED WELL AND REFERENCE READING .HE MARKS DOWN IF YOU MESS THAT UP. BUT HE GIVES SOME EXTRA CREDIT.

I took soc185 social theory &it focused on social& class analysis through marx's capital &then looking at this in relation to durkeim & weber's understanding of class.also read on social class during different historical eras.important 4 soc majors &useful 4 understanding our world.a lot to read, but nice, approachable, good feedback &input on essays.
