Prof cohen is one of the best teachers at ucsb... the class is one of the hardest classes and probably the hardest psych class you will take but his teaching was amazing and because of that the material became interesting and easy to learn. definitely take psy3 with him if you can
Ami is awesome. There's no other way to put it. Is he that great of a teacher? Not really. But he's funny and weird and spends all his time injecting drugs into rat's brains for reasons that are not entirely clear to me. I got a B- on the midterm but aced the final and ended up with an A. Form a study group and go over the slides/readings.
It was a good class and i think he was a good professor. However, his tests were not fair because they were incredibly detailed and a lot of it wasn't in the reading, or covered in class. I would avoid him. His accent is hard to understand as well.
This was one of the hardest classes i have ever taken. He was funny and a fairly good teacher but the tests were composed of small details he barely even mentioned in class.
ami did pretty good for his first time teaching. His accent did make it difficult to focus and sometimes he couldnt get his thoughts across. But his tests were fair and he tried his best to help
Horrible teacher. Lectures could not be more boring. Huge amounts of material to cover, midterm and final are composed of tiny details, like 5 questions on one slide on a lecture of 30. Doesn't focus on concepts at all, just details. avoid him at all costs.
This was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. If you're not a psych major, avoid this class at all costs. Midterm was all miniscule details instead of general concepts which was almost impossible to study for. Go to office hours- he is very willing to help. Did not read the textbook and passed
He was definitely one of the most entertaining professors I've had so far at UCSB. His accent made everything sound better. Only a midterm and final and they were both fairly easy if you study. TAKE HIM.
He gives you LOTS of material, if you miss one lecture, you can miss a lot. he is definitely not the best at explaining the material or just getting his thoughts across, but the midterm/final are actually pretty straight-forward, not as hard as i thought it would be. every thick accent so very hard to understand him at times.
the person below me doesnt know what theyre talking about. Ami is a really good biopsych prof! his tests are as clear as can get..i had to retake this class and hes way better than the last prof i had! take him
I was going to switch my major to Biopsych, but after one week in Ami Cohen's class, I was convinced that I should not. He has barely any grasp on the English language which makes it very hard to stay focused in class. He is one of the worst instructors I have ever had and I advise everyone I know to avoid his class
