The work for the class itself isnt difficult. Write a few papers about books, have a final paper, and do a couple presentations. The issue is that she grades incredibly hard. I worked harder to get a good grade in this class than in my 5 unit class. Beware of asking her questions too, you may hear students complain that she comes off rude.
Professor Hancock is so nice, and willing to help answer questions. She seems really interested in Indian history. She assigns readings, but they can be long and hard to read because they are historical accounts. The TA took participation points during section so you kinda need to read the text beforehand. Tests is easy bc she gives a study guide.
Very interesting lectures. If you attend all the classes and take notes you'll be fine. She tells you everything that will be on the midterm/final before hand. She is extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. One of the best classes I've ever taken.
The class doesn't even count for a writing requirement but she's assigning a super long paper to be turned in before finals week.
Attend all lectures, and do all the readings and you will get an A. The midterm was easy, she gives you the questions before the Midterm. The Final is take home, but surprisingly difficult, at least compared to the midterm. One group presentation that was surprisingly fun. She it very generous with her grading, i earned at most a C, but got a B.
Professor Hancock is very nice & very approachable. She's even lively during 8 am lecture. Midterm was easy, group presentation was easy and final essay was a bit more challenging. Then during the last week of class she tells us we have a take home final, great right? No! It ended up being another 6 page paper due 5 days after our first 6 page.
She is terrible!! I was double majoring in psych and anth, but I changed after I took her class. She's head of the dept and she's a beeze. Also a really terrible, hard, unhelpful teacher. BLEH!
Professor Hancock knows the material and does a good job presenting it to the class. However, the class is a bit too early in the morning to concentrate (no matter how much coffee you have) and there is no direct correlation between the discussion group and the lecture portion. Otherwise, the class is not that bad (if you like reading and writing).
