Really enjoy Dr. J and her lectures. She is incredibly knowledgable and passionate about her work. Head GSI, Kenly, is awesome! Great class (she now teaches at UC Berkeley)

Awesome professor. She is very laidback and nice. Easy take-home quiz and 3 pg paper, and a take home final. She gave us 8 extra credit opportunities so no reason that you can't get a good grade. A lot of books and readings, but majority of them are interesting. Attendance mandatory.

A must take class for a Sociology major. Jones is one of the most interesting Professors I have had at UCSB. She knows the subject inside and out and picks very interesting readings. Take home midterms and finals. Great Professor, great class.

Notice all the whiny comments are from the Intro class. Sorry kids, in college you actually need to read and come to class. I found Jones a bit intimidating until the class got going. She's way approachable and knows her business. Top notch professor, UC quality, great class. Quizzes and final(!) are open book, but you'd better do the reading.

she's a good professor. I came in more than an hour late for the final because I thought it was at a different time and she still let me take it. thanks.

Although her lectures are very clear and precise...the paper that is required for the class is very time consuming and annoying since this class doesn't even count for a writing requirement. You MUST attend lecture to even think about passing the class and try not to get sidetracked about her somewhat bias views.

EASY CLASS IF YOU GO TO SECTION!!!!! Discussion is 15% of grade which is lame. Multiple choice exams are surprisingly very easy. TRY hard on the paper though, it's 20% of grade. Go to class & skim the reading & you SHOULD do well. She's a good person/professor, passionate, & cares for her students. She repeats important info, so go to lecture!

You have to pay attention in lecture because some of the test questions come from lecture. The class wasn't that hard.

Knowledgeable, though her presentation is lacking. Powerpoint slides not informative, and she speeds through some of them way too fast, and spends far too long on slides w/graphs or tables on them. Not a very good professor, but knows a lot about her topic.

her lectures are horrible, felt like i was in high school. she just reads off the slides, so you don't need to go. She is really tight to talk to though. get Nat for a TA if you can. I got a C on the midterm and an A- in the class somehow. haha
