Super sweet and helpful professor, I really enjoyed learning Japanese from her. Unfortunately she's retiring after this quarter so no one else will have the pleasure of taking one of her classes.
Amazing Japanese professor. She's really sweet and funny, and makes Japanese class a joy every day. Japanese class is very fast-paced, but she definitely helps you learn a lot. Took 1 and 2 with her and would take more if I could. Highly recommend taking Japanese with Shinagawa sensei!
Japan 2 is harder than 1. But having Shinagawa sensee is always a pleasure. I'll miss her since she cannot teach Japan 3 next quarter.
Shinagawa is the best! Though I was only taking Japanese for fun. She is so caring that her homework feedbacks are always related to what you've said during the class conversation.
She's just so kind. She's probably the most caring teacher I've met for my whole school time. I am now taking Japanese4 with her and I really felt that my language skill improved greatly.
Shinagawa-sensei is very kind, has a great sense of humor, and an absolute angel. Her teaching is very organized and gives clear instructions. Randomly picks people during class to answer questions but very easygoing and supportive even if you answer incorrectly. I've taken 1 and 2 with her, would take more if I could. Cannot recommend her enough.
Shinagawa sensei is such a sweet lady and wonderful teacher! There is usually 1 page of homework every night and it can be finished in 15-30(max) minutes. Attendance is a part of the grade, so don't miss class! And there are quite a few quizzes, but as long as you study at least the night before and have a good memory you will do just fine.
Shinagawa-sensei is great at teaching and makes class fun. She's super funny and just a really friendly and inviting person. She's also really supportive even when students make mistakes in pronunciation or grammar.
She's so incredibly sweet. I come in half asleep and leave happy and refreshed. Every day she always comes in with this amazing positive energy. That being said, expect a good amount of work. One student missed his final thinking it was 12-3 when it was earlier. He cried and they felt bad, but still didn't allow him to take a make up.
A joy to attend her class every day. It's not easy, but keep up with the material and you should be fine.
Shinagawa-sensei is one of the best professors I have had at SB. She teaches Japanese REALLY well and explained everything clearly. The class is very easy to do well in if you are interested in the material and if you go to class. Shinagawa is very nice and helpful and is always available for office hours and for help. She is really good!
Best teacher for Japanese. She wrote the book! Knows how to teach and does it well. Expect to learn fast but at a pace that you can understand.
