Covers LOTS of information that he never tests you on (like proofs and philoso-math) and is easily sidetracked. Grading is weird, 10% is papers and the rest is M.C. quizzes (5Qs) and 3 M.C. exams (20Qs). Qs on tests are usually about random factoids rather than about applying philosophy/proofs. Hard to know what to study. I didnt really learn much.

I thought Philosophy was interesting until I took this class. Tim is monotonous, his power-points are extremely boring, and he marches up and down the aisles obnoxiously. We spent the first 4 weeks discussing abortion--it got a little repetitive. I hate this class. Don't take it unless you love Tim or philosophy.

dont take this class unless you know what you are getting yourself into. finals wasnt as hard as i thought but papers were difficult and class is uninteresting. concepts are strange and hard to understand. take good notes.

take laptop or u will never be able to write anything on the slides and notes arent posted online and laptop will keep you awake. papers are pretty difficult & they are key bc theres no midterm. final was surprisingly easy. short answers were basic concepts he went over during class. sections arent worth going to. book wasnt helpful.

I really loved philosophy until I took this class. He is a REALLY hard grader. Plus he goes so fast through his slides you have almost no chance to copy them. Only if you can follow philosophy really well do I suggest you take this class.

He went way too fast as far as lecture went. There wasn't enough time to write down the slides and he wouldn't post them online. If you're trying to decide whether or not to take this class, don't. If philosophy isn't something that intrigues you, this class will seem awful.

I loved this class. It was interesting, enlightening, and educational. Its what a university level course should be. Me wanting to go to it, me learning loads, and me doing well. The only downside, if you can call it that, is his use of flowery prose, and the slide show that can get a bit pedantic due to the lack of variety in his adjectives.

Okay, so I had him as a T.A. and he's okay, at best. He grades A LOT harder than all the other T.A.s and doesn't always specify on essays where you got your grade docked. He's boring to listen to, speaks like a philosopher (aka big words and boring), and he's not very clrear on what he tries to teach.

Tim=great guy, and put more into this class than all other TA's combined. He read drafts, held 4 extra study sessions for tests, and is beyond intelligent. However, he is so verbose it can be extremely hard to follow him, especially when you're trying to get him to clairify topics. Also, he is a VERY hard grader. Great guy, great effort, very hard.
