to much reading and class lecture is pointless expects you to memorize a lot of details and facts about the really boring reading.His test are all based on the reading so Avoid him if you dont like to read.

He was a nice guy, but basicly his whole lectures summned up in a simple question was "What is gender?" until today, i still dont know what gender is according to him. His test questions didnt have the right answers sometimes, so it was easy to pass b/c he would give us free points. I never read, and i got a B+ And FYI, don't fall asleep in lecture

Not the best professor I have ever encountered here at UCSB. However he was not the worst I have had. He does assign A LOT of reading. He is not the most helpful person. I emailed him and it took him a long time to get back to me.

Had him for Chicano studies 1B and enjoyed it. The class is interesting because it's based on gender and sex and the professor is gay, not saying that does anything, but because he is a advocate and activist, it makes the class more personable. He jsut asks that you think outside of your comfort zone, just explore and be open and you'll be do well.

AVOID!!! his class is ridiculously hard...he assigned a lot of reading so if you missed one weeks reading assignments you were basically screwed...plus they were not that interesting! his test were also ridiculously hard && class powerpoints are really dense with info.. AVOID IF POSSIBLE DONT TAKE FOR EASY GE CAUZ ITS NOT EASY!

Interesting teacher, knows what he's talking about, assigns too much reading, made his tests WAY too hard, BUT he realized that he's overdoing it, so future classes should have be interesting AND easier

he piled on too much work, it was like he wanted his students to fail.

Roque Ramirez is a great professor. His classes are very interesting and he's an awesome, very understanding person.

Expects a lot. You have to keep up on the reading. He's very inthusiastic about the subject matter and teaches it well. plus he's really hot!
