He's very nice and understanding. He reminds me of a petite grandfather-figure. Overall, his lectures may seem overwhelming but his midterm isn't. Midterm was open book and Final was take home.

Archuleta is a very good teacher. He explains very clearly and wants you to understnad. Always willing to help even though he may be hard to reach at times. Data Analysis is a somewhat difficult class though and there's a lot of work with the labs thrown in. Final is take home.

To be honest,I fell asleep almost every lecture and still did well.i found this class to be quite boring.Hes a nice guy, offers a good amount of extra credit.Holds review sessions before the final and midterm.Tests werent easy,but werent super hard either.Read the book and go over the slides.it helps a lot. You'll need to know specific events.Study

The first half of the quarter is a lot more information than the second half, so the midterm is not a piece of cake, however i found that the final was A LOT easier.There are many chances to improve your grade through the extra credit (do it!). Also, he tests you on info he's posted online in his slides. Overall, enjoyable and interesting class.

i don't think going to lecture was very helpful because he goes way too fast. however, all the slides are online and if you study the slides, do the homework, and go to discussion, you should be fine. i failed the midterm but ended up with a "B" because he allows you to double the final. he is also very helpful during office hours.

this guy really knows his stuff. i firmly believe that those who don't like them are either genuinely bored by the subject or didn't go to class. maybe both. the teacher is really funny, very open to questions in class and may be a little monotone at times, but if you go to class and keep up with the topics you should be just fine.

Aside from him telling us that we were gonna die everyday, i just didn't enjoy his class. I guess I would've found the topic more interesting if he didn't remind us that California was overdue for "the big one" and we didn't talk about death ever

i actually attended almost EVERy lecture and i took it my last quarter at UCSB. His lectures are great, he's a really funny professor and finds a way to make the subjects interesting. if you go to class, section and study you will pass the class no problem

i think i slept through every lecture he gave, minus the ones showing videos. i love the subject, but he just presents everything so slowly, and he focuses more on earthquakes than any other disaster, because he is biased, which i found very frustrating.

One of the best classes I've taken at UCSB. Other professors who teach this class are ridiculously hard. Good guy who wants to see people do well but tests are kind of hard so you have to study for them if you want over a C in the class.

i cannot believe that people actually enjoy this class. it seems very interesting but as soon as the first leture was over i could tell that this professor was going to suck the fun right out of this class. the grading system is ridiculous and he pretends that he is being helpful by offering a couple extra credit assignments but he is just a prick!
