idk why the ratings are so bad. prof westbrook's lectures were interesting and the material was easy to comprehend. long readings to annotate before each class, but again, it was interesting to read about so it wasn't too bad. multiple choice midterm and 6-7 min video project for final but instructions given early on. id def take again
I really enjoyed this class with Prof Westbrook. The reading load is standard for an UD sociology course, and the material is actually really interesting. Laurel is definitely a Type A professor and can be a bit strict at times, but if you can manage annotating, attendance, an easy midterm, and a video project final, you will love this course
A very ok professor, teaching concepts that were already intuitive. Struggled heavy with the weekly annotated readings due to the length and specific requirements for the highlighted sections. The participation was done through pollev which was annoying, and the final video project was a chore to get through.
Professor was okay. The subject itself is not difficult to comprehend, however, the class requires a ton of readings multiple times a week for articles 20+ pages with detailed annotations. She is also very unorganized which created a very chaotic and unfair testing environment. No wifi in the class but grade is based on electronic attendance. 3/10.
Professor is passionate about the topics they teach, however the environment is very strict. They want a specific format for everything, you have to submit annotations to lengthy readings, and attendance is 20% of the grade which you also have to do polls to keep up.
The material itself was easy. Weekly readings required specific highlights and annotations that are specific in order to receive full credit, attendance worth 20%, and a very unorganized exam.
