Lectures are helpful if you can stay awake during them. Her tests are a bit ridiculous with the way she words the questions and it really seems as if she doesn't want her students to do well. The class is definetly passable though and plant bio only lasts for 5 weeks
WORST PROFESSOR I'VE HAD. End of story. Class couldn't be more boring, reflected by the fact that about 10% of the people actually understand wtf is going on. She is monotonous, says the same thing over and over, and tests you on your ability to memorize worthless details. STAY AWAY FROM THE FINK!!!
She needs to retire. Worst teacher at UCSB. Tests are impossible even if you are an expert at the material. Tries to confuse the hell out of you on every question. Completely unapproachable and very moody all the time. Only way to get an A is to get lucky no joke.
worst teacher i've ever had in my life. not only is she boring and a bad teacher all together, but she is unapproachable and rude to students. i hate her.
She is an EXTREMELY boring professor who seems to have no apparent interest for teaching at all. She just stands in the same spot all lecture and talks in this monotonous voice about very boring material. Her tests are extremely hard and the practice quizzes don't help b/c they don't reflect the difficulty of the tests. Makes your GPA go way down.
Horrible lectures. Tests are extremely hard!! Material not intresting and she makes the test questions tricky, like none of the above, or ab, or ac and that kind of thing. Avoid at all costs!
God she was terrible.
ruth-less. very hard final but there's a curve, so don't cry
she's the worst teacher that i've had so far...doesn't explain anything clearly, shows no interest in trying to help you, and writes the most difficult tests imaginable. she killed any interest that i had in that class
SOOO BORING! avoid at all costs. Material sucks and she sucks MORE at teaching it. NO SENSE OF HUMOR - will never crack a joke and is so monotone! made me hate Bio and i got As in all the bios before. HORRIBLE!

it seems that she is testing you not on the material but on how well you take tests!
Tests are soooooooo hard
boring lectures, and gives hard tests
Nearlly impossible to get an A in this class, unless it's the only class you are taking...or you are very smart!

1 group project (presenting medical microbiology research) + 6 quizzes (3-5 questions) that you take every week in your section, as well as 2 midterms and 1 final, which make up roughly 80% of your grade. Midterms were a cakewalk, with 100% being memorization. The final, however, was the hardest I've taken in college, but the curve was fat though!
Did not know what kind of class I was getting into. It was more like AP Bio then actually learning about nutrition. Do not take this class if you do not like science. Only reason I passed the class was because of my goated TA Michelle!
the final highest score was a 74 with an average of 48. Majority of the tests had averages under 60. No one is passing and she does not curve. What does this say about the teacher? If the whole class is scoring poorly?
If I could have her license as a teacher removed I would. She's a poor teacher during lectures, just reads off slides which the slides are just the text book readings she has you do before class so she's not teaching anything. Doesn't offer good help outside of class/office hours. Your tests = stuff she didn't teach. Tests are poorly written.
tests have nothing to do with what you learn/read. she doesn't teach, she just reads the slides to you and yaps about it. for what sounds like it should be slight work, this prof. is just not it.
Started online but in person after a month. Slides posted, but she gave additional info in the lecture. Section attendance is mandatory but the lecture is not. Lowkey hard. Take the other nutrition class through the health department. Like no assignments, so both midterms and finals are ur grade. Weekly quiz in section. Didn't expect it to be hard.
