I was Professor Ahuja's research assistant for a quarter and received class credit. In my experience, he was very kind and seemed passionate about his work, but at the same time, was incredibly disorganized and vague about what his requirements for the work. He also offered me a job then never followed up on that which was interesting.

The class admittedly was a little disorganized at times but Ahuja is a great professor with lots of interesting perspectives. There are a lot of assigned readings per week so I'd recommend at least skimming the material each week so that you're prepared to engage in section, which required mandatory participation

Excellent professor, easily one of the best I had at UCSB. I highly recommend talking to him during Office Hours, he's highly intelligent, great at giving advice, and fun to talk to. Also his dog is adorable

Ahuja is a great professor and his politics of India class was extremely interesting. Attendance is mandatory so make sure you go, also no textbook required but there were extensive readings on gauchospace. Your grade is basically based of 2 papers and one take home final, participation was 15% as well. Grading was tough but that was because the TA

He's a nice man but his lectures are insanely dry and repetitive. For all those saying you need to attend lecture to understand the readings, you don't. You can only miss up to 3 lectures and they take roll. 2 8 pg papers and final is 3 take home mini essays. Overall, never taking his class again. Does anyone know if he curves??

Professor Ahuja is the wisest man I've ever met. Extremely knowledgeable and educated man. Teaches you things with the hope that you will use them as a reality check on how you view the world. Tough course, but he provides you with all the tools you need to succeed!

Best professor I've ever had. I was going through a tough time when I took his course and he was very understanding. He helped me so much during office hours and gave me great advice about my academic career. His lectures are life changing! Be ready to hear about realities when you go to his lecture, they are eye-opening.

Super nice guy, passionate about India. Readings are killer and TA was not super helpful... Would take him again for sure though! Get to know him and you'll be glad you did

Great course .It was very different from the other courses that I have taken at University. It made me think about protests in a new ways . He is a nice guy and cares about his students .I am taking another course with him this quarter. Warning At times the readings can be long and boring. Don't miss lectures.

He is a really nice guy, but probably the second worst professor I've taken in the poli sci department. He does lectures from memory, and they are very dry and often scattered. In addition to his scattered lecturing style, I found his assignments were way too vague, weren't engaging, and didn't properly build on the course material.

Took Politics of the Poor with him, very cool class. He is wonderful to talk to and constantly motivates you to think about course ideas and stuff going on out in the world. Awesome professor, class is heavily based on reading and lecture but very interesting.

Ahuja is by far one of my favorite professors in the PS department! I loved his Politics of Economic Development class because he was able to make it interesting and occasionally funny. Class is mandatory but it really only should be that way, since you won't really understand the readings that well unless you attend. I definitely recommend him!

Ahuja is a brilliant man and I enjoyed his class on political economic development. the reader provided many relevant and interesting readings, even though there were a lot of them. many papers (3 for the final exam and 2 others throughout the quarter, including an in class midterm) but they were graded very fairly. all in all I recommend him.
