I am the PSTAT 115 student.the best professor I have ever met at UCSB. Well-prepared and organized lecture The exams are not easy, but if you follow her step, you will do well on the exams. she should not got low grade, she is so patient when answer my question.I got 100% on canvas, it gives me confidence and I really love it and the professor

Dr. Coburn is a really sweet lady and posts all her lecture videos online for 120C. The exams are tough and you won't find the answers in hw or anything, but doable if you watch all the lecture videos in entirety. Pay close attention to hw because it is graded with scrutiny. She is super caring and helpful in office hours so definitely go.

4 HW's with 1.5 weeks to finish each, 3 online quizzes bi-weekly. Lectures were so confusing but necessary to succeed so attend all. Midterm and final both took questions from the practice exam and had 50% R output interpretation 30% Derivation/Proof 20% MC/TF and extra credit. Attend sections right before the exam, TA's went over helpful topics.

If you want to be concerned about whether you will graduate on time due to a single question on a single exam, this is the class to take. Prof never responds to emails/Nectir (Slack).

Random in-class quizzes, bi-weekly homework assignments which were challenging because in-class material didn't help, a midterm and a final. Final was completely unfair and irrelevant to what we learned. I would only take this class when Professor Sang-Yun Oh teaches it. Most of the class felt like they learned absolutely nothing. Avoid, 0/10 class

HW assigned biweekly, labs were not required but were briefly gone over in section without solutions released. Quizzes were in class on canvas, and the final was very difficult with two questions, one being worth 50/70 points. Professor/ hws did not prepare the class for exams and in general it was a low quality class.

Her lectures were pretty incomprehensible and hard to follow. She will literally never respond to emails and TAs can't get a hold of her. Homework and quizzes were graded on completion which helped your grade but did not help you learn. The midterm was extremely difficult that she had to make the final exactly like the review and midterm.

I took her for PSTAT 134. The course load is actually pretty light she just doesn't really do anything to prepare you for the mid term and finals. There's not enough in the assignments to prepare you. Final had 50/70 points in one question that I couldn't finish.

She was really organised for this class and fair and it was pretty easy to do well. 5 homeworks - one due every two weeks worth 10% each, and you were allowed submit up to two homeworks up to a week late with no penalty. Final project worth 50% which you could do on whatever and she tells you all about that right at the start.

I took Coburn for 120A my junior year and didn't love her as I felt like she didn't teach us enough. This course, on the other hand, she teaches very well. It's a lot of fun as 50% of the class is working on a final project and the rest is homeworks that help you with that project. She's genuinely fantastic at teaching this class.

She is a fantastic professor in all aspects. My only qualm with her is her unresponsiveness over email, but this is mostly because I don't go to class :)

Extremely unclear lectures, slides are so vague it's useless. Teaches difficult topics as if you already know them. No continuity between lectures (very random). No grading syllabus, no clue which assignments got graded, no place to check your grade until it showed on GOLD, and no response to emails. Even TA's felt lost. Terrible experience!

Dr. Coburn is very accessible and easygoing. She exhibits an optimistic and caring attitude during her lectures, which are quickly paced and heavy on content. Even though course material is challenging, homework problems from the textbook are graded on completion, with online quizzes provided weekly and a single note sheet allowed on each exam.

Without a question one of the worst professors I've ever had in my 4 years at UCSB. She straight up does not answer emails and you'll be lucky if she responds to anything on Nectir within a week of posting a question. Her lectures were terrible and relied on slides to teach. Grading rubric was "entirely up to the professor." Super unclear/vague.

Coburn is easily one of the sweetest and kindest professors, but i was not a big fan of her teaching style. Lectures are very theory based, which doesnt transfer over to the homework and midterm material. The midterm and final are extremely difficult, I got a C on both exams despite studying 20+ hours for each and going to office hours

Horrible course. NO feedback during the whole quarter. You even don't know the grading criteria.

Don't expect an easy class, times have changed. 30% midterm, 30% final, 40% basically guaranteed. Tests were graded nicely, but it was hard to solidly learn any of the concepts at all during lecture. She was a cootie pootootie and really nice and respectable. If she could change her teaching style slightly, learning outcomes would be better.

Exams felt hard, and the slides didn't help me study for them. The only resource that was given is a list of textbook problems, but I would have appreciated having actual practice exams since many times the questions end up being different. HW and quizzes are graded on completion, so if you're unable to keep up, you may end up cramming at the end.

Coburn is an alright teacher but good if you are ready to learn without the pressure of grades. The tests are identical to problems in lecture/homework, and sections are super organized and teach you a lot. Lectures themself went slowly but lots of time was spent on each problem, and it took very little work outside of homework.

120B itself is extremely hard but Prof. Coburn does her best to make it easy on students. Homework is graded on participation, has EC, she's flexible if you're struggling, v helpful in office hours, & puts tons of effort into making clear lecture slides. TAs were awful at grading tho so check your graded midterm. Class moves v fast so study hard.

Seems most people either hate or love Dr. Coburn but as long as you go into it without the notion that you're getting an easy A & actually study - you'll do well in her class. She is a bit tough to reach outside of class & does make calculation errors in her slides but the study guides prepare you well for the midterm/final + cheat sheets allowed

Dr. Coburn never cared about the students. Super hard exams and low-quality assignments. Avoid her at all cost.
