best in the world
Took her Fall 22. We had bi-weekly HW, no midterm, quizzes, and final exam. She's overall OK, but very unresponsive and so were the TA's. Self-learn a lot. She's new so I'll give her that.
Nicest professor I've met. The grading scheme was very generous with hw being half the grade and only graded on completeness. She is very helpful during office hours. Her implementation of R in the course was most useful too. Especially compared to the majority of the PSTAT department, Dr. Coburn is amazing!
Dr. Coburn cares more about being liked by her students (by handing out As like candy) then she does about teaching statistics. In fact, I am not even certain that she knows statistics. She fails to answer students questions, frequently makes mistakes in class, and her slideshows are near incomprehensible and riddled with errors. review continued
One of the nicest profs out there. She is very understanding and will help you understand the material to the best of her ability. Homeworks based on completion and exams/quizzes are take-home. However, you still must understand the material quite well to do well on the exams/quizzes. Don't be scared to ask questions, she loves questions!
Absolutely one of the nicest professors at UCSB, but not that great in terms of teaching. Lenient Grading. Should be your first choice.
Had a group project. No exam. Topics are quite interesting.
Professor Coburn's kindness was so needed last quarter! She was incredibly helpful and accommodating no matter what kind of difficulties we were going through. She expects you to do well, but will give you the support you need to succeed, unlike so many other professors. Best professor I've ever had.
After a horrendous experience with 120A, I was delightfully surprised by Professor Coburn's compassion. She is a very good professor and even took time to review some 120A stuff that not everyone had learned previously. She even offers extra credit and makes the class easy to pass. Take her if you have the chance. :)
Professor Coburn is super sweet. She gives lots of opportunities for extra credit and freebies on quizzes/homework, and will give extensions if you need them. Her quizzes are kind of hard and you definitely need to go to class, but her friendly demeanor makes up for it.
