If you want to do really well in this class make sure you download his practice tests and do the problems as you go along. Keep reprinting them out and go to CLAS when you need help. Tests are fair and averages are pretty low (50 for midterm and 60 for final). He's a really cool/funny professor and does clicker (3% of grade).
Honestly, Freund is amazing. He cares so much about his students. He's the only professor I've ever encountered who is concerned about his low test averages and takes responsibility in that. I think he's a great physics professor and his tests are hard but FAIR. GO TO OFFICE HOURS! He is literally so willing to help. His demos in class are amazing
Hes a very scattered teacher, definitely needs to condense and organize his lectures better. You dont need to go to class to pass as long as you review and understand the homework and practice tests. He also uses unusual variables in comparison to standard physics. Wouldnt take again.... however best out of the 6 series teachers.
"If you don't get it, you better figure it out before the test." That quote by him sums up his teaching pretty well. Occasional marginally funny jokes makes lecture a bit more bearable. Seems like a nice dude 1-on-1
He is a very adorable dude. He gets shy and makes funny jokes. But the tests are HARD. Very Very Very Hard. Multiple choice and still have no idea what to do hard.
Do the practice tests, and follow along with the steps he takes to do problems during lecture. Practice is key. Funny dude.
What a great guy. If you're taking physics Freund is a must. He's funny, he's happy to explain things to you, he's approachable. I'm scheduling my whole next quarter around making sure I have him again for 6B
Definitely attend class as he goes over concepts and practice problems. Homework is online and pretty challenging. Tests are very difficult. Would recommend studying every day and not waiting until the last minute. You must really understand the equations and the concepts and know how to apply to each other or you will struggle on tests/in class.
Freund is undoubtedly one of the best Physics professors I've had. His lectures are relatively entertaining and quite informative. He posts a lot of resources and study materials on Gauchospace but I'd still recommend going to lecture, as he goes into more depth on notes and uses iClicker questions for attendance. Tests are pretty difficult.
interesting
I LOVE him. Good luck finding another professor that care about their students more than Freund does. During the final I was asking a question and afterwards he check in with me to see if I feel ok about the test. It's so hard to believe ucsb doesnt make him a full time teacher.
Do the practice tests!!!!! Great teacher, great guy.
DO THOSE PRACTICE MIDTERMS!!! They will save you because most of his exams are just like his practice ones. Once you understand the concepts and how to solve each problem, then you'll be fine. His lectures are confusing because they are a bit confusing, but other than that he's an awesome professor! He's hilarious and chill af!!!!
Freund is such a chill professor. His midterm and final are very similar to the practice ones so if you do those (and understand those problems), you'll do very well.
Pretty cool guy in general, but he went really fast during lecture. You have to constantly keep up with his pace to understand the material of the class because he goes through the material quickly. His midterm and final were like past exams so study any past exams that he posts on Gauchospace. Take CLAS and go to his office hours if you want help.
He's seriously awesome. Enough said.
Professor Freund is clear, helpful, and hilarious. He does great demonstrations with the students.
Practice practice practice especially if this is your first physics course like me. Not much homework midterm and final make up your whole grade. His lectures are disorganized at times and go really quickly so make sure you ask a lot of questions if you''re stuck. He''s a really funny guy full of energy fair grader.
Prof Freund is a great guy! Pretty hilarious actually, and a good teacher as long as you're keeping up with the class. It's easy to get behind though, especially in summer, so go to class and pay attention and you'll do fine.
Ernest is the best! I heard physics is harder over the summer, but he made it so much fun! This is the only class I never missed a lecture. He is a GREAT guy, and has the funniest jokes ever. Tests are straightforward. DO the practice tests and you'll get an A.
Professor Freund was great! I was nervous about taking physics because I had heard it was so hard from the people that took it during the school year, but Freund made everything understandable and kept the class engaged. Really funny!! Text book wasn't really necessary. CLAS helped a lot too, Vince was great!
Without a doubt, the best physics professor I have ever had. He does an amazing job of making material to easy to understand. 10/10 would recommend!
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. I had no interest in physics whatsoever. Freund made it interesting and engaged students as much as possible. Very cool prof. His exams were very straight forward and gave practice exams that helped A LOT.
Funny, easy-going professor. Lectures are somewhat mandatory to attend because of iclicker points, but you will want to go anyway because he has great demos, explanations, and makes the lectures entertaining, plus he is probably the most attractive professor at UCSB. His exams are VERY similar to the practice exams, so learn those and you're golden
