Jarrett was a fantastic professor, really cemented my desire to go law school. His content is wonderful, relevant, engaging, and insightful. One of the best philosopher teachers at this school. Looking forward to taking more classes he teaches! Highly highly recommend even if law or philosophy isn't your career goal.
Jarrett is an awesome professor. You will get out of him what you put into the class. He is funny if you understand the material, and achieving an A is not impossible.
Great professor, very fair tests, very engaging lectures. There are a lot of silly typos on his powerpoints and sometimes his jokes are tacky, but not the biggest deals; I enjoyed taking this class a LOT. The content was fascinating
Taught this class as a philosophy class. Short readings discussed in class and weekly quizzes that you will never discuss again. One term paper that is suppose to be based on philosophical views. Didn't realize this class was meant for only a letter grade when I signed up. Don't take unless you need it or are really into philosophy.
This class was a joke. I went into it being extremely excited and was only disappointed. The first day he says it's not a philosophy class but the entire midterm was based on philosophers ideas. He also likes participation but then just says okay. and moves on. AVOID.
Dr. Jarrett made this class fun and interesting. The first half of the material was mainly theory and the second half took on concrete cases. The midterm and final was tough and he graded the term paper somewhat hard, but he is very fair and generous when it comes to grading. The amount of reading is reasonable. I recommend this class.
Daily readings were short and corresponding quizzes were easy. No midterm but the term paper took a lot of effort. The final was the easiest test I've taken in college so far. Be wary that he requires you to contribute to discussion. I didn't have a problem with it, but others were very quite and probably didn't get full points.
Really enjoyable professor. Good sense of humor and very fair grader. Attendance is required and based on quizzes on the reading but are really easy. Midterm and final are easy if you go to class and pay attention.
Short quizzes pretty much every class, one essay, no midterm, and a final. In-class and online participation in forums is a good chunk of the grade. Overall an entertaining and informative class. Recommended to all students
grade is midterm, paper, final, and participation in class and online. midterm was the hardest test I've ever taken and the paper seemed pointless. just spitting back info from book but he is hunting for plagiarism even though we must mostly use the textbook. funny lectures but tough material. this class takes a lot of work.
Jarret is awesome!
he assigns reading before each lecture and has a 3 question quiz each class about the reading. then you never talk about it again. midterm and final are pretty easy. take it only if you can keep up with the reading which isnt too much
Professor Jarret is amazing! He has a great sense of humor and makes class fun.As others said grades are very fair. His syllabus is extremely clear. You have to do the reading, pay attention in class, complete paper and make sure to do forum posts. Overall very interesting class, funny intelligent professor
Cool teacher, very unique personality. Class was more discussion based, and had only one Final. 25% was quizzes that tested if you did the reading from the night before, 25% was participation in class on forums, 25% Final, 25% Paper.
Cool teacher, 50% of grade was based on attendance(daily quizzes on assigned readings, very easy) and Participation. I got an A, and I only studied for the final for 2-3 hours (only one test-final).
