JARRETT G C
Class structure keeps you engaged, and the lectures are great. You cannot get behind, though; there is a lot of ground to cover, but if you keep up, it's a really fun class. Strongly recommend taking a class from hum
He has a wonderful personality (very funny guy) and made lectures super interesting. Expectations were made extremely clear and despite a somewhat heavy workload, success was achievable with effort. The course itself was super interesting too.
LOVE Prof. Jarrett!!!! His lectures are unskippable they're so funny and informative. He really expects a lot from his students and his class material reflects that. He grades harshly on tests and they're built to be concise, so you can't BS them, but he often curves to help students. Transparent and great, you'll "PARTY" in his class!!!!
Fantastic prof, genuinely the funniest guy on campus, relatively difficult compared to others and demands more from his students. His classes are real preparations for academic study in phil, they demand attentive reading and ability to digest and grasp abstract content. Phil 143 is fantastic. There's a reason all his courses are popular.
Jarrett was great - demanding, very interesting, and fair. Very talkative and a lot of information (not just from him but just the course content too), so you have to go to lectures, take notes, and there are reading quizzes. Graded on 3 tests and a paper, so you have to study a lot and well but can improve your grade as the quarter goes on.
His class is full of blue hair girls and people with victim mentality, if youre a normal person do not take it your opinion will be overpowered during every discussion.
Very kind and funny professor. Lectures were very fun to attend. Reading was sometimes confusing but like another comment said, ended up doing better in the class than originally thought. Exams are very fair.
He is such a fun professor. His lectures are informative and I like to sit back and just listen to him. He has a super organized class, you know exactly what you will be doing. I really liked this course and highly recommend people to give him a chance. There is not a lot of homework!
very funny and interesting lecturer. 2 discussions per week, 2 quizzes per week, (sometimes) short readings, a midterm, paper, and final. content is straightforward and attendance is absolutely mandatory. class content is very useful and applicable in the real world. If you put the work in, it's possible to get an A.
Professor Jarrett is one of the most unique university profs I've ever had. Quizzes before every class and mandatory participation makes the learning environment intense. Jarrett is tough and expects a lot from his students but the outcome is very rewarding: learning the material better and overall more camaraderie in the classroom.
He's a great lecturer, but he's hyper-fixated on making life difficult for students by removing quizzes before exams and hiding resources, and overall making petty choices that can at times overshadow his passion for the subjects he teaches. I genuinely enjoy his class, but his outdated 'let me make life difficult for you' attitude gets old quick.
I have mixed feelings about this class. Professor Jarrett is a great Professor in the sense that he is passionate about his subject, and allow for the sharing of a wide spectrum of views. But the grading was awful. The midterm and exams were MC but hard, and your grade has so much ambiguity that it drove me insane. Your grade won't be clear
