Best gen chem prof there is at UCSB! Go to office hours, he's helpful and easy to talk to. I was lucky enough to have him for 1B AND 1C even though he has only done it once before.
Price is a great guy. Extremely helpful and accommodating, as well as fun in lecture. Let me put it this way: he's the type of professor who is good enough at his job that you seriously consider switching majors. However, his tests are no joke. They are challenging, but also curved generously according to class averages.
Price amazing teacher. Not only is he more than happy to answer questions, but he takes time out of his weekend to hold review sessions to prepare his students for exams. He is a very clear lecturer and lays forth what you will be expected to know for tests. Since this class is math based, if you're good at problem solving, exams are no problem.
Best professor I have ever had and HOT but even if he wasn't hot he'd still be the best. So entertaining during lecture - does a lot of demos and has cute scripted jokes. So helpful and just great in every way I cannot think of a way that he could have made his class better. Tests are tough but he prepares you for them so it's fair!
Really cares about students, loves to mix humor into his lectures to keep students engaged. Good guy and good professor
He is really funny in class, I would definitely take his class again. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. He is willing to explain as much as you want. Also, just loves talking to students in general, and he is really approachable. What he teaches in lecture is pretty much exactly what he puts on the tests.
Good guy and good professor, he is a really nice person and probably the nicest Ucsb professor that exists, however his exams are beyond impossibly difficult and most of the time he lectures at too fast of pace which confuses the class overall amazing professor he just needs to slow down the speed of his lectures A+++
Beautiful man & amazing teacher. Best chemistry teacher by far.
He's very funny although he does make the same jokes a lot. He makes chem a fun class to attend and I love his accent. Chem 1AB were very doable with Scott.
Scott is by far one of the best teachers I have had at UCSB. He's very approachable and I would definitely recommend learning chemistry from him. Anyone who didn't learn general chem from this man was missing out but he only teaches chem 1a and 1b. His tests are very fair so whatever work you put in is what grade you will get.
Best Chem 1B professor by far. His lectures are engaging, online homework (ALEKS) isn't terrible and is less than the other Chem 1B professors, and he's definitely willing to help you if you need it, he even stays extra for office hours and has lots of last minute office hours during finals to help out students. Definitely take Price!
Incredible teacher! GO TO OFFICE HOURS. Bumped my grade because he knew how hard i worked in his class. Great guy.
Price is the best professor I've had at UCSB so far. This guy knows how to teach college students and WANTS you to learn and do well in his class. His tests are completely fair and your success in his class is purely based on the effort you put into it. I would sign up for Price even if it had to be an 8am, and that's saying something.
Price was my FAVORITE professor! He made Chemistry easy to understand and super fun! He does a lot of awesome demos and he even dressed up during Halloween. I would highly recommend him for general chemistry and I would advise to go to as many of his office hours as possible. That's the only thing I regret. His lectures are really helpful too!
Best professor I have had a UCSB. He is extremely helpful if you go to office hours and show an effort in the class. As long as you put in the work and follow his suggestions on how to study for the class, you are set. His tests are tricky, however if you go to lecture and do the book problems and truly understand the material you will be fine.
Super clear and organized, even though the material itself was really tough. The tests are really hard because they're tricky, with the answer choices being answers that you could potentially get it you forget 1 step (and these are multi-step problems!). He's a nice guy, though, and dropped the final assessment on aleks! And he's SUPER HOT.
Dr Price is amazing. He is very helpful. It is so much fun to go to his office hour.
I love Price! His teaching style works so well for me and he's always willing to take questions. He's really funny and engaging so you don't mind paying attention in class. His tests are totally fair and he posts his old quizzes and exams online so you can use them as reference for studying! Absolutely great professor.
HOTTEST PROFESSOR EVER. The material is not hard, once you get it you get an A.
great professor. tough courses but definately not his fault. a lot of the work has to come from the student which is usual. he does his very best and is soooo clear during lecture and makes sure to answer questions clearly before changing a topic. this man knows what he's doing
By far one of my favorite Chemistry professors! His office hours were always fun to go to. Tests are pretty easy as long as you do all the practice exams and quizzes. If you ever get stuck on one of the practice quizzes or exams, go to office hours! I never read the book, just took notes on lectures and Aleks and i passed with an A.
Great professor. Explains material coherently and walks you through example problems on the chalk board. He sends out emails a day before his lectures that have assigned readings and questions that help you prepare for his lectures. Do all the book problems and past quizzesexams. They wil help you prepare for his quizzesexams.
Price is a man who is genuinely interested in helping out his students. Do ALL the recommended book problems because he loves putting math problems on the exams. Do all his old practice exams and you'll be fine. He's the absolute best professor I've ever had and I would take his class again in a heartbeat.
Despite the mostly positive reviews, realize that this is a challenging professor. I didn't really apply myself and received a C in 1A, and F in 1B C+ after retaking. Tends to emphasize the most difficult aspects about chemistry on exams. Plan on doing most books problems, past exams posted on gauchospace and taking CLAS to get a B+ and above.
