I can see that this one student keeps writing terrible reviews repeatedly. Pro. Cho was the best math professor I have ever had in my life.

I just don't understand how someone can be so bad at teaching. He goes on so many tangents and overcomplicates and overexplains things. Homework was useless and there were so many irrelevant and ridiculously hard questions. Quizzes contained stuff not yet covered and you had to depend on the ta to teach you right before. Spare yourself and don't

Cho is a decent professor: good-natured and well-versed in the content, which can be tricky to grasp with his fast-paced lectures. Open-note weekly quizzes are given during section, and most of the problems on the midterm and final are doable given you review homework and quiz questions. Course attendance is necessary, recorded via iClicker.

This course only has 1 midterm, 1 final, and 8 assignments. There are mandatory quizzes for each weekly session. TA are very nice, they will talk about some similar questions before the quiz. Midterm and final are both very easy, with questions from lectures, quizzes, and practice exams.

The class was easy if you do some preview. Taking CLAS made this course really easy to get an A. The exams were similar to the practices.

Goes too fast during lecture and takes too much time proving stuff. Lectures are all over the place and quizzes cover things he didn't teach so make sure you have a good ta. grading is easy but that doesn't mean he's a good prof. quizzes stressful af but if you study all the quizzes you should be fine for the midterm and final

The most difficult part of the course may be understanding him, as he goes pretty fast in lectures. Some proofs may be tedious, but they typically highlight some point. Just concentrate 100% during lecture. Still, homework and quizzes drill down the concepts, so the tests, consisting of quiz q's, are very easy, in addition to very easy grading.

Pls listen to all these recent bad reviews and don't take Cho. save yourself. ta does most of the teaching and all he does is beat around the bush. questions are always reliant on arithmetic more than actual concepts. weekly quizzes are unfair and cover things not yet taught (for the most part). Midterm had questions that weren't on practice test

I fail to comprehend how he manages to say so little in so many words. He is a bad teacher who fails to cover a lot of the material, leaving the TA to pick up the slack. I personally found this easy solely because I already know the course material. Also, he has a love for mindless computation without creating actual understanding.

he's so overated. lectures are all over the place. rely on the ta for weekly quizzes. midterm and final make up 70% of your grade which is way too much. the midterm included questions not on practice exam like someone else said and was pretty obscure and annoying. gaslights you into thinking the class is easy and its your fault for not getting it

Problems on the midterm which were not on the practice test. The last problem was the same structure as one we had on a section quiz, which required us to do so many calculations by hand that a lot of us didn't even finish the quiz in time. Not a bad lecturer, maybe average. TA does most of the teaching. Attend your sections.

Accent. Ranted about RMP score in class today and denied how the quizzes cover things he didn't cover yet when everybody knows the quizzes are unfair for making you know things ahead of time

i thought he was good based on his 4.4 average but i was wrong... the weekly quizzes covered things he didnt even teach and was literally so stressful. notes were messy and 6a had a specific textbook for this exact class literally called math 6a ucsb so unless you wanna spend like 80 dollars on a textbook and read it you have to rely on his notes

he does not follow textbook, his notes are messy and all over the place and he does not communicate well what the structure of exam is going to be

THIS IS THE GREATEST PROFESSOR, in essence he's the same as that really good high school professor you had. Very dedicated to teaching and very engaging even when the content is a little slow (he showed pictures of his cats). I genuinely think maybe the best math professor on campus.

Uses webwork, tests are pretty similar to practice tests. Final has some trick questions on it. Lectures aren't mandatory but they might as well be. He talks incredibly fast and covers a TON of material in 75 minutes, so you need to go otherwise you'll fall behind

I took him over the strike. 1st midterm was in-person and was so easy, literally like a 89% average or something. 2nd midterm and final were both on Webwork, unlimited attempts. He was genuinely such a nice guy, only tested us basically on word for word examples (even in person) and made the lecture at least somewhat bearable.

very fair grader. I took his class during the ta strike so things got a little messed up but overall a good class. the material at the end of the quarter felt a little rushed tho. very kind professor and shows cat pictures during lectures!!!

Professor Cho is very respectable and extremely caring about his students. While his lectures can be hard to follow, his homework is fair and he does give out practice for his exams. Got lucky because 2 exams were moved online due to the strike, but his physical in-person exams are hard and proof-based. Nice grader though, and super caring!

Cho's exams are similar to homework and practice problems. There are quizzes during sections, so you don't want to miss them. Cho speaks very fast, so it is hard to follow sometimes, but generally his lectures are helpful.
