Kelly Bedard may be knowledgeable about economics, but she is terrible at teaching. Not only did I have to re-learn all the topics, I would spend 10+ hours studying for her tests, only to see questions that were completely unrelated to the course material. There was nothing I could do to prepare for the questions, they were so off-topic/confusing.
She wasn't a good professor. Taught us one thing then the tests were 10 times harder and most of the time there wasn't much you could do to prepare for it. The class is simple but she makes it hard. Not fun I wouldn't recommend taking Econ 2 with her.
Goes over slides so fast, exams are extremely difficult, practice exams do not help, and cares way too much about IClicker.
Her lectures and her slides are the same thing, she adds nothing extra to what is already on the slideshow. Also, half of her tests were the most confusing thing ever, you will spend more time trying to figure out what the question even means, rather than trying to solve the question. Be on time in class, or else you won't receive attendance points
The exam are x100 harder than what she teaches in class! She will explain the basic of the basic in lecture and will ask the hardest and trickiest questions on the exams. Also, the weekly Data Assignment for some reason is impossible even though you can take as many attempts as you want, and is also totally different from what she teaches in class
Wording of the test confuses me a lot as an international student. I am sad
The lecture slides are disorganized and aren't useful. It's a lot of self learning and doing practice problems/reading the textbook. She gives practice problems that only test conceptual understanding. But the tests are hard bc problems are long and worded in a tricky way. Lectures are interesting but all over the place.
lowkey tough as hell for no reason. don't know why it was designed this way, don't understand why she does not work to change this crazy tests. each test, I read textbook, do all practice problems, finish all homework, I still do not understand her tests. so frustrating.
Paid 50+ for an useless textbook, idk why this should be allowed despite our huge tuition fees. Tests are so unreasonable and designed in a way to trick students. She took off the regrade option so it is impossible to argue for a grade. She does not consider opinions of students. ATROCIOUS experience.
Does not explain class content well. She really cares a lots about iclicker. Some words in exams are confusing. Bad experience!!!!
The tests in the class are unreasonably hard, the questions were hard to understand and there is no extra credit/curves
Doesn't give us enough time for tests.
In no forms of disrespect, my honest feedback of the course is listed below: 1. Wording of the test is confusing and unfriendly. The phrasing is designed as if it is meant to confuse students. 2. Tests are super fast paced, we are given around 1.6 minute per q with various calculation. The confusing wording only makes it harder 3. unreasonable
She cares way too much about iclicker and does not teach the content on the tests.
Prof Bedard is an okay professor, the class itself is very test heavy so if you do the homework and read the textbook you should do fine. People do however say Econ 1 is a weeder class and it kind of is so beware if you have a deep hatred of Econ don't take this class.
Class is super straight forward and everything is clearly stated in the syllabus. There are only 100 points given out throughout the quarter so you just need to be careful of small mistakes and you will get an A.
Hundreds of complaints after each quiz/exam. Never respond or just telling you "Nothing wrong." Yes, even I got an A, this is still unacceptable. btw my friends are not as lucky as me, don't know when they will comment here.
Very good professor
Easy A+ for Econ 1.
She is very straightforward in what you need to do in the class, but when it comes to projects, students were usually left in the dark, especially if you are new to excel. She and her TAs never answered project questions clearly and students had to rely on one another for any type of real help. The quizzes and tests are all online and open book.
The class is straightforward. Tests are open book. If you watch the lectures, complete the projects, and do the assignments, I don't see how you don't do well. I genuinely enjoyed her lectures and felt that she did a great job of connecting content to practical, real life examples.
Keep up with lectures, do the practice questions, and don't procrastinate on projects. Not a hard A.
Very good professor, you will succeed if you work hard.
Have no idea why she designed the course that way. Lecture is simply repeating the videos on GS, no different from the online course. Don't know why everything is done on a paid textbook. The most stupid thing is that we cannot return to the previous question in the exam (you CANNOT CHANGE THE ANSWER AFTER YOU REALIZE YOU'RE WRONG)! Bad experience.
