This class really cast a shadow on me. The irony is she's trying to get us interested in stats after this class. A lot of things in her class look helpful but redundant. Practice problems are important and you need to do much more exercise yourself to handle the difficulty (tricky problem + extremely tight time) of the final. Don't trust her words.

Professor Ludkovski isn't a bad professor. Heavier workload than other classes --written homework and Python homework are due every week. I enjoyed his teaching style and he made participation count which really boosted my grade. He wants you to fully explain your work on the exams. This class was tough but interesting.

The exams and interview are about if you really understand the material and are able explain your approach to questions. Be ready to spend extra time to learn and not rely on him being nice. His posted optional textbook chapters and internet materials in addition to lectures. Everyone in this class was working hard.

She is crazy. The difficultly of final is depend on her mood. One quarter easy, one quarter super hard. I got almost 98% in all my math, pstat , econ courses. But I only got B- in this course. Could you believe that? Do 10 difficult questions in 1.5 hours! UCSB should not hire such an irresponsible teacher, I feel that she is not teaching . Baka

Grades to the smallest details and expects you to study beyond the class material taught. There was a last minute change in grading distribution and a B- was 82%. C+ was 80%.

Mediocre at best- not great. TONS of errors in his slides/lectures. I always end up telling the TAs all the errors I found (on important formulas) during off hrs. When pointed out mistakes he never tells the class or corrects them. Curved down final grades (B was 85). Avoid if you can- extremely tough grader if you don't explain every tiny detail

Tough Grader. Curve down at last. 91% A-, 82% B-.

Genuinely one of the worst professors I've had; lectures and homework aren't very useful for exams, which are incredibly time intensive. Final exam scores were so low that she decided to change the whole grading. Makes simple concepts convoluted and long, and is condescending in her lectures and when approached for help. I'd give a 0/5 if I could.

Not a good teacher. Changes her grading scheme every freaking quarter because she has no idea what she is doing. Mumbles and stutters through lectures. Online was a horrible experience with her. Makes it so hard, that if you are not an expert at solving series/summations & advanced word problems. RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. AVOID, you will regret ifudont!

Worst professor everTake her class if you want your confidence to be destroyed. Her quizzes and exams are extremely challenging. JUST RUN!!!!!!!!!!!

Easily the worst class I have taken at UCSB. The homework takes days to complete and the quizzes are extremely derivative on what she has taught. The concepts arent difficult but Ravat somehow makes it basically impossible. TLDR: Run.

we were told not to worry about grades which is hilarious considering the fact that our final was worth 50% of our grade, was very hard considering the time constraints, consisted mostly of week 9/10 material, and had a D average. This class has made me reevaluate whether I love statistics enough to deal with stuff like this for the next 2 years

Simply avoid Ravat if you can. Disorganized lectures, seemed to confuse herself. Time constraints on exams were ridiculous, and HW was unnecessarily difficult.

She tries to be nice, but is out of touch with her students' concerns. She didn't give extra credit opportunities because she didn't want us to feel obligated to do it, made the final so hard that half of the class failed, and told us not to worry about grades despite giving us every reason to worry. Straightforward concepts, hard/stressful class.

She is a ridiculous professor with an average grade of 60 final. One and half hours to finish 10 probability questions and statistic questions. So rediculous. Taking her course was the most repentant decision I ever made in my university.

Uma is simply not a good professor. She's a terrible and inarticulate lecturer and does not care very much for her students. I came into the final with a B+ quiz average, but our final was 50% of our grade. I spent upwards of 20 hours studying, as I'm sure many others did too. With only 1.5 hours for the final, the average was a D-.

I put so much time into studying for this class. The class was mostly fine for me, until the final. Only 1.5 hours for the final, not nearly enough time. A lot of people bombed the final. If you see her name, do not take the class. She is so bad, people would rather take a TBA professor over her. Thank god for the TAs being so helpful.

Ravat does not care about her students, and would rather them fail than succeed. Her lectures are awful, so bad that TA's go out of their way to upload review videos so that anyone can know what is going on. More students fail in this class than any others, and not because of the difficulty of content, but due to her failure as an educator.

The material itself is not very difficult but the way the class is graded/formatted makes it impossible to get an A. The final is 50% of our grade, which is way too much. Always preaches about mental health but continues to make her class extremely difficult for no reason. Practice what you preach at least.

Ravat has a kind demeanor but her actions and policies are strict. Quizzes and final are nothing like the homework or practice problems despite them being worth 80% of your grade. Her attempts to be accommodating came off as patronizing, and shes purposely vague about updates to course policy. Get ready for a monster final if you take her class.

To be honest, Prof. Ravat is trying her best to be caring, she always told us not to worry about our grade too much. The course content is not too hard, however, she is a really tough grader, she gave us little time to do quizzes and final exam. Quizzes are 30 percent and final is 50 percent. I was so frustrated when taking her class.

Ravat always tells us not to worry about our grades and just try to focus on learning. However, the way her quizzes is formatted, along with our final being 50% of our grade with no curve makes it impossible to not worry about our grades. The material covered in the class isn't hard, but her methods of teaching make it needlessly difficult. Avoid.

Contrary to popular belief, Ravat is not a bad teacher but rather adequate. Put in the work and you'll reap the fruits of your labor. Doing the bare minimum is not going to get you an A in this class. Don't procrastinate, do all the assignments, and you'll be just fine.
