Price is hands down the best chem professor at UCSB. He is very knowledgeable and clear on his courses. I took both Chem 1A and 1B with him and he was the reason why I could succeed in chem. His tests are NOT easy, but they are fair if you put in the effort. Very helpful to do book problems that he assigns after every lecture.
His lectures are so hilarious. But his test gets harder and harder as the quarter goes by. Definitely a good professor. Make sure do you do book problems.
Price is one of the best chem professors at UCSB; his lectures are concise, and he really goes out of his way to reword the material in a way that makes sense to the students. However, STUDY STUDY STUDY and enroll in CLAS, because the tests are so much harder than he lets on. I failed only because I'm bad at chem, not because of his instruction.
Had him for 1A and loved him. He's the best chem 1 series professor, so if you can get in his class, take it. He's funny, he won't nail you for missing a lecture or homework here or there, and his tests are about as easy as it gets for a curve-dependent class.
Scott Price is such a character. He made lecture interesting and made the topics clear. He explained the problems step by step and gave everyday examples to make the topics relevant and easy to understand. There were also many opportunities to raise your grade with ALEKS, iclicker/quiz replacement, and midterm/final replacement.
Price is a great guy, I love his personality and he's super intelligent. I recommend taking CLAS because the material can be kinda tough and the more practice the better. Only thing I hated were his crazy grueling tests. Did everything I could to study and still could only pull a C on the final. Feel like I deserved better. But overall great class.
Price is AMAZING! He made chem my favorite class first quarter. Don't get me wrong, get ready to study... I averaged about 20 hours per week just for his class. Definitely the best lecturer out of all the gen chem profs. DO THE BOOK PROBLEMS!!! The practice tests and ALEKS are not enough to prepare for exams. Excited to take him again next quarter
I'm terrible at chemistry and only needed the first two courses in the series for my major, but I would not have taken 1A and 1B with anyone else. His lectures were clear and well-organized, and he explained things well. Biggest regret was not doing the book problems, or else I probably would've done better. Take the whole series with Price.
Price is truly, absolutely, and genuinely incredible. He delivers the most amazing lectures and the experiments he does in class are DOPE. He's very helpful during office hours and truly does want every student to succeed in his class. You do have to put in effort to earn a good grade, but it's all worth it in the end. Honestly amazing professor.
Made lectures interesting and easy to understand. Keep up with the reading and the assignments and you should be just fine.
Daddy Price is a great guy, but don't go into his class assuming that just because he's an amazing lecturer that you don't have to put in as much effort. I failed his chem 1a class and what I learned from it is that the book problems are actually crucial to doing well in the course, and that the other professors really aren't as bad as they say.
PRICE IS THE BEST CHEM TEACHER! I had him for 1A and 1B. He posts lectures online but go to class because he works all problems out very clearly and explains as he goes. Do the practice tests for tests and as if you stay on top of the book problems in every email that he sends out, the class will be way easier, you just have to put in the work
Best Chem teacher at UCSB. Great lecturer. Strait forward/ easy tests if you do the practice tests.
I LOVE Professor Price. He is an amazing lecturer and genuinely wants students to do well. If you go to lecture and do the book problems, you have a good chance of doing well in his class. He is the best.
This man is a Chemistry God. I could tell you, in very specific rhetoric, how much I love this man. But I won't. Just take this class, take any class he teaches, and just enjoy him. He's smart, he's kind, he is the best teacher I've ever had, he helps you outside of class, he's got it all. Just actually do the book work and study. Enjoy.
Professor Price is a great lecturer. If you attend an keep up with all of the lectures and do all the practice quizzes, you can do very well in his class. If you took AP Chem, that's all you have to do. If not, do the book problems, and make note of all the questions you find difficult and ask him how to solve it. ALEKS is annoying but it helps.
This quarter I realized I really sucked at science but I do not regret taking Price's class at all. He was the best professor I've had my first quarter. He does not teach extraneous information that will not be needed in the future, he teaches what is necessary. He also holds review sessions and posts resources on gauchospace for students to use.
Such a great teacher who gives us so many resources! I feel like I took it for granted and kinda blew off this class, though. Don't do that!! Price is honestly such a great teacher
His lectures keep you engaged and are very organized. He is really helpful during office hours and the class isn't too hard if you study a little bit every day. Price is such a fun teacher and makes class fun
Price genuinely cares about his students and lectures extremely clearly. He is definitely the best of the 1A professors, so everyone will try for him and his lecture fills up fast. Although his teaching is very good, he cannot pass the class for you. You will still need to do all of your homework, book problems, and practice tests to do well.
Awesome prof! Lives up to hype, but admittedly his tests are a lot harder than his lectures make them seem. He does post previous quiz/midterm/final so take advantage and practice off those. iclicker replaces lower quiz & final replaces lower midterm so even if you mess if in beginning, you can do well. Just study & put in work. Take if u can!
Incredible teaching style - concise powerpoint slides and doesn't include superfluous info on his slides like what most professors tend to do. Tells you exactly what you have to know. made chemistry very easy to understand and uses a lot of analogies that make very difficult concepts easier to understand.
I love him, he genuinely cares about your grade and you doing well in the class. His office hours are usually crowded. He holds review sessions before every exam and the final. As long as you attend lecture and write down whatever he writes on the board, you should be fine. His previous exams/quizzes are good examples of what will be on the exams.
Daddy Price is a beast of a man. I highly recommend taking at least one of the gen chem series with him. He makes his lectures interesting and does more demos than any professor. He also does multiple exam reviews for every exam in the quarter. His tests arent too difficult, but they will test your knowledge. You can't not love Daddy Price.
