Schooler is very well-known in the psych field so he def knows his stuff. He clarifies so much in office hours so go ask your questions there! Reading was the only issue I had since it's not the most efficient way to learn but you have to read to get A's on the exams. There was an extremely generous curve given so an A is definitely doable!

Tests are extremely difficult and based on very niche things. If you are interested in cog psych def take it with Sprague instead. Jonathan is a good lecturer but the tests don't reflect what's covered in class. There are no quizzes or practice exams and study guides are not very helpful. OH tended to get off topic and unhelpful.

i saw someone say his lectures were a bit difficult to follow, i have to agree. he makes up for it when he answers students questions in class, he really makes it easy to not be scared to ask a question during lecture! also, if you're rlly having trouble, i found his office hours extremely helpful with material i was confused with from class.

you can clearly tell schooler is very knowledgable, he is not a very clear professor. this is in terms of lecture style, it's extremely hard to follow him and his train of thought. he structures the final grade as 30% midterm 1, 30% midterm 2, 40% final, so there really is not much wiggle room. no extra review material or supplemental help.

Professor Schooler is one of the best professors this school has to offer. He's very understanding and he tries to make the learning environment as positive as possible. Sometimes he has little trouble with Zoom but its never anything bad and it's fixed super quickly.

2 exams; 2 quizzes. overall Good lecturer. kept up with readings (warning: there is a lot) which helped me understand the material in the class. He also has you watch videos out of class, which he will have 2 items on exams. he also had a guest lecture (2-3 questions). exam- 75% on the lecture. 20% on readings. 5 % rest. got an A- in the class.

Lectures on interesting material. Provides students with a great study guide saying exactly what to study (plus a little extra) in order to receive a high score on the exam. Very knowledgeable.

Prof Schooler is very smart, and you can tell he is really passionate about neuroscience and psychology. His lecture slides are very text-heavy and dense with info, can sometimes be hard to follow/understand. Tests are easy as long as you show up, pay attention, and read. Sometimes could not answer questions in depth. Madeleine Gross is a good TA.

He is understandable and does his best to answer any questions you may have. You do have to read if you want an A, the tests are made up of approximately 85% powerpoint and 15% book. Stay for lecture after a quiz and there is a chance you'll get extra credit. If you care about the material, the lecture will be fun and engaging.

Alright professor and an alright class. Material is really interesting but Schooler isn't a very compelling lecturer (once you notice how many "um"s he says it's hard to not notice them) and the exams are harder than you'd think compared to the topics he covers in lectures! Really likes it when students ask questions, but often doesn't have answers

His lectures are key if you want to be capable of the tests, as is reading the book. You need to do a lot of work to get the information clarified in your head. there is quite a lot that is conflicting. He is eager to teach students and a genuinely sweet guy. he can be frustrating as despite his intentions he isn't able to make everything clear.

Best professor I have had in my entire college career. Extremely knowledgeable. He loves what he does and wants his students to love it too and do well in the class. Would highly recommend. Super helpful. Loved the class.

He is very organized. He is like a walking dictionary, he uses a lot of big words. There are 2 quizzes, a midterm, and a final. He will curve it if majority does bad. You have to put in A LOT of work to get a good grade. Overall pretty difficult but not impossible

I feel that the class was more focused on covering massive amounts of material with little depth to the information we were given. It seems sort of counter-intuitive, given the fact that the class was emphasizing ways to retain information better. His lectures are a skim that moves 1000 mph and the slides lack appeal

He's an excellent professor that really cares about both the students and the material. While his lectures can be long, they are always interesting and engaging. His test are clear, so if you study, you'll get a good grade. Also, if you're thinking about doing an Honors Contract, he's a great professor to work under.

If you want to learn by yourself then you should take this class. If you want to copy down exactly what he puts on his slides you should take this class. If you want to mindlessly listen to him tell you what to copy down instead of taking the time to actually understand the concepts you should take this class.

The material he lectures on contradicts the textbook. Not only that, but something he says will typically contradict something he said earlier. The inconsistency is a chore to deal with. Overall, extremely disorganized and dysfunctional class and professor.

Schooler teaches a clear-cut psychology class. He is definitely an expert in his field and has extensive research background in cognitive science which made the lectures more interesting. He tries to keep the lectures upbeat but they can drag at times. Expect a large amount of vocab. Overall a solid introductory class.

If you make sure to truly pay attention during lecture and go over your notes you'll do well. It is pretty helpful to read the book but its not too necessary. You can tell he really enjoy teaching us what he knows :)

Professor Schooler was great. He did his best to make boring topics fun and really encouraged class participation. That being said, if you don't come in excited or interested in yhe material, of may be boring. Tests are tough in the sense they ask for specifics you wouldn't normally memorize.. But would take again in a heartbeat!!

Honestly one of the best psych teachers I have had. Lectures are great, clear, and engaging !

Schooler covers wide range of interesting topics & is super approachable & helpin office hours. There's a short quiz a week before the midterm and a week before the final which helps you to learn the info in advance instead of cramming last minute. Tests aren't tricky if you go to class, learn the slides, & supplement w/ book material. Great class!

He has a fun and interesting way of presenting the material. His lectures are engaging. The class was well organized. The book was interesting. Quizzes and tests were not too tough. Always answered in class questions. Lecture slides are most clear if you attend class.
