The class is fun and pretty easy. Four essays including a group project on a museum research. Lectures and readings are not necessarily mandatory but they are still worth attending/reading. Overall great experience(I'm really interested in museums so I have a lot of motivation for this class but regardless still worth your time)
This professor is one of the most amazing, interesting, and caring professor I have taken!! These ratings are probably done by students who put little to no time into this class and still expected a solid A. If you want an easy but exciting class to take you wont regret getting this professor. Im a bio major and enjoyed this class. Take it
I got A/A- in all the other class but get B in this two-credit class. This is so ironical.
She does not care about her students AT ALL! She keeps saying that this is a two-unit class and it will not influence my gpa, but actually it did! Never take her class. I got worst gpa and worst experience from this class.
This is my worst class at UCSB. Don't ever take her class. Her grading system is unreasonable and she is so mean. She would be so unhappy if you went to restroom during the 2 hour lecture. Also, she is not respectful even to some guest speakers. DONT DONT DONT take her class!!!!!
She is the worst professor ever. i don't even want to call her a "professor". Her grading system is unreasonable. Her test is based on the very very detailed informations on the lectures, which you'll never know what they are talking about. there is no study guide, since this is a " 2 credits class with little influence on ur GPA". DO NOT TAKE IT
Sooooooooo Horrible
Her test is not only hard but also full of her personal thoughts. After some artists' performance, she adds up her opinions about history and emphasizes that those opinions will be on the test. Meanwhile, she has a really stereotypical view about cultures and music, and she is unfriendly towards international students.
This is the worst class I have ever seen in UCSB. It is even harder than my biology class. There is no text base and all depends on the lecture. She do not care about students. She think 2 credits is nothing. But i want to say 2 CREDITS are also CREDITS! In the exam she asked very detailed and unnecessary information. I ruin my grades .
Unfair grading policy. Ask unnecessarily detailed questions on the exam which will not show students' real capability, understanding and critical thinking about the content of the talks. Very suppressive. Some of my friends thought they were looked down when they went to office hour to ask question.
Do not take her class. Even if you paid full attention and lots of efforts in this class, as long as you make one or two mistakes in the final, you gpa will be ruined. Ridiculous grading system and very harsh grading system. My friend says this two-unit course is even harder than his other physics classes. He is a student who has a gpa over 3.9.
Horrible! She acts as if tho college students need to be treated like they are middle schoolers. She chases after people trying to leave class, disrupts lecture and practically jumps over students to get them off their phone. She tries too hard and gets no where. Never ever again
I loved this professor! She knows her stuff when it comes to both art and the museum world, shes funny, caring, and always wanted the classes thoughts on what was being taught. Weekly reading question, final project, midterm, and final. The final project was super fun and let students get creative with the subject of museums and history. 10/10.
Professor Mclemore is an amazing professor. Her lectures were a bit slow at times but overall they were interesting. As long as you take good notes, you'll be fine. Attendance is mandatory, she uses this TopHat to take roll and she assigns readings every week. She's hilarious and awesome, loved this class!
She was alright. Tests were very easy. Her lectures were a little disorganized occasionally which was frustrating. She seemed caring and willing to help. There were some pretty long readings, but only a couple of questions per test were from them.
I learned far more from my excellent TA Colin than I did from the professor's lectures. They are rarely interesting and she forces you to attend by making attendance 10% of the grade. My biggest qualm was her tendency to stray across disciplines and consistently get the science and even history that she was teaching completely wrong.
Professor Sorkin was hilarious! She gave very interesting lectures with information you can use outside the class. 3 short papers, midterm, final, iclicker. At the beginning of each test she said if you attended lecture youll probably get an A. I would definitely take this class.
Jenni is my favorite professor I have had this far at UCSB. She is extremely insightful in her lectures and makes art history really exciting to learn about. Overall a pretty easy class as long as you go to class. Only 3 short papers, easy midterm and final, and iclicker.
I highly recommend taking this class with Prof. Sorkin. She made the material easy to understand and very interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory but go to lecture as most of the material tested in the class are from her lectures (3 small paper, midterm, final) She made every lecture very fun! Class is an easy A if you pay attention and go to class
Really easy class if you just show up and take simple notes. No textbook, just readings that she posts online, but even those aren't too difficult. She calls you out if you fall asleep so just don't do that
Before this class I found no interest in art & didn't really understand it. Prof. Sorkin really made this class interesting and relevant to our world today. I loved how passionate she was about it and how she lectured. If you have respect for art and are interested in modern day issues in our culture its a great course.
Take this course with Jenni! She gives amazing lectures and all test materials come straight from the slides. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you go and sit through the lecture while taking good notes you probably won't even have to study. Just listen and asks questions. Midterm and final are easy.
Take 6C if she is the Prof. no books, only pdfs with three very small writing assignments. If you go to lecture and actually listen you can easily get an A. She has a good sense of humor and organizes lectures very well.
She is not very approachable. She does not seem to like students very much. I mean, why teach if you cannot be helpful to your students? I approached her several times about my papers and exams but she was very stand off. Class is interesting sometimes but can get really boring. Overall, don't expect to get help from her.
