do not take her classes unless you're willing to change the grading option to pass/fail bc of how bad of a teacher she is

Professor Khoury's lectures are so hard to follow and disorganized. Very few assignments make it hard to actually get points in the class. Readings are not helpful. I suggest not taking a class of Khoury's.

She was super sweet when I had her online. She made sure the class was accommodated for during covid by letting us retake quizzes. Midterm/Final were really difficult and shes specific about certain details. As a Middle Eastern studies major and I knew the information before she was taught it but missed points bcI didn't mention specific details.

She's a wonderful person however, as a professor she's infuriating. Her lectures are just impossible to follow, she misspells artists names constantly, randomly takes attendance, makes up random assignments on the spot there's absolutely no prep or even discussion of tests, most of the works I studied I googled, Interesting content but not worth it

She is very nice and super passionate. However, she puts next to nothing on her slides so if you don't go to lecture & pay attention you probably won't pass. She takes random attendance & will call you out for clicking your pen or being on your phone. Also doesn't allow laptops. Readings are all posted online, but you'll be tested on the content.

Do NOT take this class even if you need it for an Ethnicity or Cultures requirement. Her lectures are disorganized and unclear. She expects students to make her class the highest importance and will mark you down for the tiniest things on exams. I'm an art history major and typicaly do extremely well but am expecting a mediocre grade for this class

Just read from her reader and memorize all the artists the day before the tests.

She's not that bad of a prof, this class was pretty easy. short midterm/quiz, easy final, 2 group projects. she grades fairly easy. the class and her lectures are kinda boring, and the projects aren't fun but all groups get As.

By far the worst professor I've ever had at UCSB in my almost 4 years here. I'm an art hist major and I sat there questioning my life choices every lecture. Jumps from a 1-2 pg paper to a 7-8 page research paper (its lower div). Went on ridiculous tangents, impossible to follow lecture/material, and way too much useless info. Don't do it.

By far the worst professor I have ever had. Consistent disorganization in lecture, repetitive and useless information, and inability to connect with students is what you'll find in this class. Very easy content, but my God, Nuha is impossible to listen to for even an hour and 15 minutes 2 days a week. TA's really save her ass b/c she's incompetent

Pretty tough class for a GE, but definitely doable. Professor and TAs are helpful on papers, and it's clear what you need to memorize from image reviews and lecture.

Khoury is nice person with a cute sense of humor but she's an absolute WRECK of a professor. She is extremely unorganized and scattered while simultaneously expecting the world from her students. Asking her for clarification will only get you a response with your question framed back at you. Its more hassle than its worth, everything is UNCLEAR.

Khoury was very scattered. You could tell she was very passionate about the topic, but her lectures were super hard to follow and she would often get off track. Try to sit in the front row if you want to avoid falling asleep. She takes attendance randomly and it counts for the grade, so I recommend going to every class even though it doesn't help.

Professor Khoury is one of those teachers who truly loves her subject matter and does a good job of passing that onto you. Her lectures can, however, be a bit disorganized and not well-managed for time. A fun class, but it might be hard and/or boring if you aren't an art/history person. A lot is covered, so get ready to study.

Incredibly detail focused, oh god. No one got higher than a B on the midterm or paper and she did not curve it because it was our fault apparently. Annoying, scheduled all major tests and papers the day after holidays. Worst college prof I've ever had, do not take this class.

I came into this class (6K) super excited because I really enjoy art history and religion, and the class fills a ton of GE requirements. I have been so disappointed, this class is a walk through hell. She takes things very personally (if someone leaves lecture early/arrives late, she makes comments) and gives lectures that are hard to follow.

Took the class as a GE and I have never worked so hard. the class is ridiculously hard for no reason expect to memorize everything she'll ask questions about topics barely mentioned. takes attendance every lecture and is counts for a grade. NEVER TAKE HER AS A PROFESSOR sure she loves her work but you will hate her

I took this class as a GE with high expectations because I was interested in the topic, but unless you are PASSIONATE about art history/are an AH major, do NOT take this class!!! I've never been one to ever have any particular problem with teaching styles, but her lectures are VERY disorganized and hard to follow. By far the worst class I've taken.

I really like Professor Khoury and she is passionate about art history. Yes, she is a little disorganized but lectures and readings are important. She will call people out for being late, phones, ect. If you memorize things she emphasizes you will be fine. I took her my first quarter at UCSB and thought the class was interesting and fairly easy.

This professor was the worst I have had at UCSB! She is extremely disorganized yet expects her students to somehow follow along. She always says "I forgot where we left off last". She provides no study guide and her tests are extremely specific! If I were you I would avoid this professor at all costs!

I loved this class and the professor! I took 6K as a freshman and it really got me excited about college. The only thing I would warn is that the midterm is much easier than the final so beware. Professor Khoury posts the lectures online and it is a crucial study tool. The readings are helpful but not really essential.

This was by far the worst class I have taken at UCSB. I'm an art history minor, and this class taught me next to nothing about art history. Her lectures are extremely unorganized and difficult to follow. It felt like I was taking a poorly executed history class rather than an art history class. DO NOT take this class unless you have to.

If you're taking ARTHI 6K because you think it'll be easy and you'll get a ton of GEs done, think again. Unless you're really interested in Art History and you've got lots of time to spare for this class (ie. you aren't taking many other hard classes), this class is not for you. Sure it takes care of like 4 GE requirements, but you'll have to earn
